never happen..anonymity is bliss..

A meet and greet is a place to introduce yourself to all the women, however....

It would be just interesting to meet all of the hobbiests and put a face with the username!!

I would look hysterical walking around with a name tag that says "KingBuffet"

But to see everyone together(Those who get along and those who don't) would be a trip!!!

...I was in favor of it, but most people who showed up were not posters.  It mirrored the reality of TER - less than half of TER hobbyists post on the boards.  Here's a survey question from 2005:

HOW ACTIVE YOU WERE ON TER'S DISCUSSION BOARDS IN 2005?
3%   I am a 24/7 resident!
9%   very active
30%   active
36%   Barely visited
20%   Discussion boards???

From that other place cause I wrote "admin" on a name tag and wore it at a  M&G . Sigh

and have been to more than a few.  For me, it's not about meeting fellow mongers -- with one exception, a stellar party in January in Las Vegas.  That one had a bunch of legendary guys who were on-line friends I'd never met. But generally, it's more about meeting women I'm interested in seeing.  A M&G gives me the opportunity to see them up close and not have to rely on their pictures.  Also, after socializing, it's much more pleasant to have a session without the first-time nervousness about what we'll both see when she opens the door.
Historical Note: I was at the M&G where greeneyedude put on a name tag reading "Admin."  BTW, it did not say Admin for the site that banned him, or of any site in particular.  So the banning made no sense at all.  Not to mention it was obviously a joke.  You can't fix stupid.

For one thing, I realized I wasn't the only fug-ugly guy that does this shit.

I've heard many guys mention you are dashingly handsome .  :-D
Would  so many men  inflate your looks ?     :-D
Don't know what the ladies say about you , I don't mention  other men or my GF's  when I'm  in a woman's presence .  That would be creepy IMO and  totally off course from my prime directive .

King Buffet ,  The M@G's I have attended  had a majority attendance of guys who post on the  boards, everyone got along well ,  might be an East Coast thing .  I'm not speaking for  the North East .
Damn Yankees !!  Hooray Nationals :-D
I noticed  posters  who habitually  ditch civility on  the boards were docile as lambs or perfect gentleman at the M&G's .
It's a good trait "most" of us  "act"  more respectful and civilized in public , especially when we are around ladies .

BigPapasan,  I wouldn't give  the TER participation survey  an accurate rating . The poll allows voting more than once if you know how to cheat the voting system , similar to some  cities and towns in America  .
I would bet  some  people also vote  more than once on the TER surveys , and a Very Low percentage of those that don't participate on the boards take time to cast their vote .
As I am typing  there are 67, 452   TER users online , with approximately  414 different  handles posting across the TER boards since sunrise , with 33 posting on my local board .
Looks like a majority are  lurking or seriously checking reviews .

Yes... the last Vegas M&G this past January was a lot of fun! Good time meeting and putting faces to some of the nicest legendary hobbyist handles that showed.

You are right about the HUGE benefit of meeting the women that show up. Met one in the elevator on the ride up to that M&G and we were knocking on the wrong door for over 15 minutes due to the move to a bigger suite change and not catching the update. Seemed like only a minute with her due to how cool she was.

I probably would have never been too interested in having a session with her (her pictures on the agency website she's with do her absolutely no justice!) if I would not have met her in person. Super cool and the laughs we had banging on the wrong door were priceless.

Good time meeting everybody at that one!

I have been to several in my local cities, and when traveling it is an excellent opportunity to meet providers & hobbyists.

I would like a non-photo shopped look at the ladies.  But... I am also dying to see what the other hobbyists look like.

However, I am also a little nervous to attend one because I always feel like I am in a fish bowl.  plus I do not really "fit" in any of the categories of the hobby and I worry my precense makes others uncomfortable.

your last statement was rather murky, probably intentionally.  What do you think the categories of this game are into which you do not "fit?"  Why would your presence make anyone uncomfortable?  Your Bishop's robes?  Your horns and forked tail? Your policeman's uniform? Please clarify.

Not intentionally murky - just not sure how to describe it.  But here's my best attempt...

I think of myself as a hobbyist with an * because:

1. I would never see a provider on my own.  It will always be in a group environment.
2. I am not the one financing my play.  My partner does that.
3.  I do not find the women.  He does and I say yes or no.  But this one is only because our local TER board is completely dead and he is active on a local board that I am not part of.

Ultimately I always feel a little weird calling myself a hobbyist because that label does not seem "correct."

And the uncomfortable part...  If my status is weird or confusing to me, then I assume it has to be for others.  Am I really a provider who has found an interesting way to market herself?  I do not have any reviews, so am I actually a mentally deranged person who is just getting off on posting?  In a nut-shell - I can see why others would be leery of me.

Still murky, weird, interesting, possibly a complete fabrication, maybe the complete truth, at least not boring.  Whatever the truth is, you're entitled to it.  At a minimum, thanks for the entertainment!
