I was in Jaco earlier this year and recently returned from a trip to Colombia (Medellin and Bogota). Here are my thoughts.
Jaco is a good place for a more general, multi-purpose vacation that involves both hookers and more mainstream vacation activities. The Colombian cities of Medellin and (to a lesser degree) Bogota are more appropriate for dedicated mongering trips, whereas Cartagena is better for a more well-rounded vacation. The trade-off is that Jaco has higher prices and lower quality talent and service than Colombia and thus yields less value for the money.
The Cocal has what I would consider some of the hottest girls in the Western Hemisphere other than Colombians (although there are still a few there), Venezuelans, and Brazilians. Prices are high by Latin American standards, between $100 and $150 USD. You might pay $100 for a 7 who does CBJ only, but $150 for 8s and 9s that do BBBJ. My main gripe was with their often business-like attitudes and the quality of the service. BBBJ and GFE may be harder to find, and many girls bolt immediately after you bust a nut. The chief selling point of Jaco, in my view, is that it is one of the few places that has both a decent mongering scene and good outdoor activities, such as fishing, surfing, and two nearby national parks. At these prices and from a purely mongering perspective, one would be better off in Brazil, which has higher quality talent and significantly higher standards of service. But if you want to go fishing or see sloths in a national park during the day and fuck hot Latinas at night, Jaco is the place.
In contrast, Medellin offers significantly better and more consistently good talent and service at much lower prices and thus yields significantly better value for the money. The best/default option for many/most gringos is to rent an apartment in a hooker-friendly building (you definitely need to clarify that before booking) and arrange outcalls with Facebook escorts. The typical rate is 150,000-200,000 pesos (about $50-65 USD) for 1-2 hours of GFE and BBBJ with 8s and 9s. The trade-off is that Medellin is, in my opinion, not that interesting from a more general vacation perspective, although there are a few things to do between sessions, and the cityscape is definitely easy on the eyes. Medellin is the default, go-to option for most gringos, and there are many good reasons for that strong preference.
Bogota is a different story and stands in sharp contrast to the more consistently moderate quality and pricing of Medellin. Mongering there is either dirt cheap in the Santa Fe red light district or quite expensive (by Latin American standards) in the high-end clubs of the far north. I spent most of my time in Santa Fe, which is reportedly dangerous, but I had no security problems there. Quickies of 15-20 minutes there cost about 60,000 COP (about $20 USD), give or take, although there may be a surcharge for BBBJ if you can find a girl that is open to it (a slight majority of them are not). The trade-off is that the quality of the service varies significantly, from fantastic to terrible, but I could live with that inconsistency at such low prices. This is the kind of place where you go scrounging for diamonds in the rough. I found the high-end clubs in the far north to be a waste of time and money, as the girls were not noticeably hotter than the ones in Santa Fe, except for one club that stank of cigarette smoke, where the only girls that appealed to me physically had business-like attitudes that turned me off. I did not get any more of a GFE vibe there than I did in Santa Fe, and there were even fewer girls open to BBBJ. There is also an expectation that you buy ridiculously overpriced drinks for yourself and the girl for the prilevege of "interviewing" her, which could end up costing as much as an actual session in Santa Fe. The only advantages of the high-end clubs in the far north, in my opinion, are the longer time increments and the more comfortable facilities (except for the one that smelled like cigarettes). The other selling point of Bogota is that it was more interesting to me from a mainstream tourism perspective, with about four days worth of sightseeing, such as museums and historic buildings, if such things are of any interest to you.
