because IMO the BBBJ's CIM are pretty rare for a long term relationship.

Sex in any kind tends to become an event that you have to beg for or a reward. Oh but don't go anywhere else to get it because that would be cheating. And all that requires that you have to deal with all the bullshit in between No thanks I've done that and I'm done with it. I'm all for the "New GFE experience" with beautiful young sexy  women.

GFE stands for "girl friend experience"

~ It's probably modeled after the various concepts of what it means to have an intimate girlfriend.

When, where, who, how, turned that into a marketable, and highly desirable service?

I know the why.

Prostitution has been around for many millennia, yet GFE seems to only be two, or three decades old.

Your question was pretty clear to me, vern.  I think the poster simply misunderstood it.  BTW, see my post below, I think GFE probably dates to the late '90s or early 2000s.

Dude...don't take everything so seriously.  I'll admit to an inept attempt at sarcasm if you can try a little humility and simply restate your question next time.  Everything doesn't have to turn into a nasty name-calling affair.  For people that don't know you or your board presence...your first question makes no mention of marketing/competition/service, etc...they don't have the advantage of knowing your experience to combine with your question...and would not assume you were talking about that.

is mostly likely responsible for it.

In the old days of personal ads, there never was any talk of GFE.  For that matter, there were only scant traces of the alphabet soup we now take for granted.

Someone along the line came up with GFE, most likely to indicate that they would allow kissing, which prior to the 1990s was a very rare practice.  From there things just kind of started to spin and take on a life of their own.

Fish, I'm sure you're right.  And I personally find it an interesting question.  My perspective on it is that I first played this game between 1986 and 1993, obviously prior to the Internet.  To my knowledge, the term GFE did not exist and most of the girls I saw only offered CBJ and no kissing at all.
I came back three years ago and GFE was the mainstay here.
So it obviously developed when the Internet came on the scene.  It never occurred to me to wonder who invented the concept -- and it could have existed with higher-priced girls before the Internet (I played in the $200/hr. range back then).
Someone around here has been playing long enough to recall, I hope, because I'm curious.

I haven't been playing this game long, so don't have the historical experience that you guys have.  I always heard that kissing used to be not allowed - but movies like Pretty Woman make out that 'no kissing' was for some romantic reason like keeping something 'special'.  That doesn't seem right to me.....  There have always been loads of people who will happily kiss almost anyone in a bar or nightclub.  Why does a financial transaction and a safe fuck suddenly mean that kissing is a no no?

except for health reasons.  Once GFE was invented it would have been hard for it to be remotely credible without kissing.

The health reasons haven't changed (with the exception of a vaccine for some HPV strains that will stop a fraction of warts, and a good treatment for helicobacter).  People will still get mono, flu, herpes etc.

I just don't get it

My experiences varied depending on where I was finding someone.  If it was a "bell captain's choice" 35 years ago there was LFK sometimes.  If it was a "house" it seemed that there was no real GFE that we see so often now.

As the years passed I tended to find gals through referral sources.  Again there was no review source to speak of.  And some were much more GFE than others.

When the internet opened up a whole different way of finding hookers...it seems that many started with GFE because others were advertising it.  And that was nearly 20 years ago.

Once sites like TER popped up it became quite easy to find whatever you were seeking.

Still plenty of gals out here that don't LFK or DFK.  Why?  Because they don't  LOL

In my short experience so far, it is interesting to me that pretty much no FBSM providers seem to kiss (on the lips anyway, they will kiss you on the cheek) while most escorts will at least kiss you a bit, even if not DFK...

I've always wondered if there was a market for an FBSM that didn't offer sex, but all other aspects of the GFE experience.  You could ask an escort to do that but I'm more interested in an upgrade of a FBSM experience than a downgrade of what an escort offers.

I guess perhaps it's because kissing would blur the lines too much and the client might expect sex instead of a HJ

The first is that the introduction of communication between client and provider via the internet forums like TER has educated the client to the need for better oral hygiene which, along with better mouthwash technology means that gals no long have to fear being overcome by halitosis quite as much as before.  Tic-Tacks and Altoids probably help there too.

In my case, I have seen one gal for well over twenty years.  She does just about anything but at the start she let me know that her rule was "no kissing" at all.  About ten years ago I started to use a regimen of superior oral care products and to my surprise and delight, she suddenly got into kissing.  Now we play tonsil hockey regularly.  I don't think there's any gal I see who makes kissing off limits.

The other trend is probably the influence of the reviews and ratings that create a more competitive situation whereby providers have to meet the demand of the market or see business suffer.  To that end, the sanctity of the kiss has fallen prey to the demands of the market - for better or worse.

There have always been "courtesans" who would treat mem right, but they were "high end," also. Probably the internet has driven the competition so more women incorporate it. Years ago, I read about many escorts never kissing because that was too "intimate," which I thought was a bit curious as they were allowing a man to drive his penis into their vaginas. I guess that's one more difference between how men and women think.

Not sure if she coined the phrase, but she was one of the first to use it in her marketing.  The Playboy article about her sure popularized it.   The Soderberg movie starting Sasha Gray (The love of my life) really put it out in the mainstream.  Where it actually came from would be pretty hard to trace.   Maybe Nikki, though.  She's smart enough to have come up with it.

sure do you want "a date". A temlory gf , as for who when and how , most likely a play on words by streetwalkers ....

the phrase to Dave in Phoenix at least as early as 1999. I had never heard of the guy but in recent years he has posted a lot on the Legal Corner board. Per the link, Dave beleives he was one of the first to use the phrase in some group with which he was involved.

This profession, (escorting,) is so old, I can't find an origin, but I found a cool link I'm going to post…

xoxo

An old forum "news group" in the 90s, called alt.sex.prostitution was probably where it was first coined. At least it is the first place it was used regularly on the internet. However there is also some claims that it was used in some escort ads in alternative newspapers back in the 80s.
