Just curious if  the temporary shortage of gasoline reduces your willingness or ability to hobby? A couple of locations are a bit of a haul for me. But I have several vehicles and they all of have full tanks, and one ie electric. It may dictate which car I take, but not stopping my hobbying.

How about you?

I have both of my cars filled..It took 4 hrs to fill them.. I will be headed to Tyson's Corner to see someone (about 30 min from me).. Based on my reading, the pipeline started back up as of 5:00 PM EST, and in next few days things should be getting back to normal.

FYI, the gas station near McClean before you get on the parkway has gas and no lines as of this morning.  In McClean,  there are lines but just a few cars, not so bad.

Good to know.. Thanks.. I may top off when I get there. Although it won't be more than couple of gallons at best..

I feel bad for Uber / Lyft / Doordash drivers, whose livelihood depends on driving.

Yeah, feel bad for the lawn guys and others. But that being said, they were filling up their gas cans yesterday. I wonder about the idiots using trash bags and grocery bags to fill up with gas. The gas will eat through those and it will be a massive fire hazard spilling onto their exhausts.  Idiots.

Idiots, indeed!

I'm wondering how any gas station would allow such an unsafe procedure. I understand that self-service locations are vastly under supervised but there's got to be a liability issue here, right?

Talk about an incipient Darwin Award...

But fucking trashbags???!!! Yes that most definitely qualifies for a Darwin award.

Next thing you know self service gas stations are going to have to have warning signs "Putting gasoline into plastic trash bags may be hazardous" Kind of like putting a warning label on an iron not to test the temperature with your tongue. lol

US Consumer Product Safety Commission did put out a tweet telling people not to fill up trash bags w/ gas. As if you can fix the stupid.. LOL

As in lighting up a cigarette in your car while it's got a trash bag full of gasoline in the back seat. ROFLMFAO

...why would anyone ruin their perfectly nice, or even not so nice, car with smoke odor.LOL  Just like I don't understand why people ruin a perfectly good steak by lathering it with sauce..

Now, if  I had any say in it, I would ask them drop trashy cigarattes and maybe smoke a Rocky Patel every once in a while.. Maybe show some class.. LOL.

About people putting gas in a big bag, which is not to be confused with a  fat gas-bag...like BrokebackStabber

It's a east coast,south hoarding thing.
Like toilet paper..

and people still hobbied.
If this stops you, anything will.
I'll ride a horse or a skateboard whatever

Crazy that the president hasn’t taken any action on this.

I'm happy I live in CA and not FL.   I have yet to see a station that didn't have gas in SoCal, but we have six refineries in and around the Port of LA.

Price gouging now?  I thought CA had the highest gas prices in the continental US, and when I filled up today, it was $4.79 a gallon (my car requires premium).  It was like $78 for a fill-up.

Switch to a methane powered vehicle and you can fart your way down the road for free!

fart my way down the road, but it doesn't help me go faster.  Maybe if I closed the windows?

Also, the spike relates to panic-buying by dimwits, not to anything the gubmint did or didn't do. Did you blame Trump for the dearth of toilet paper last year?
I thought not.
Go blow your nose.

There isn’t a shortage there.

Btw you never answered the question: has it really been years since you got any pussy?

It shows.

maybe in some rural areas like Baker, CA (the entry point to Death Valley).  In the greater LA-OC area, its just under $5 now.  Even last year under Trump, it was $3.50-$3.80 here because of the oppressive state taxes we have on just about everything.  We have one-party rule in California, so the taxes just keep going up, and gasoline has been a prime target over the years.

The average for Regular in LA is  $3.96.  Its a little misleading to use an outlier to try to make a point, but I will concede that at this ONE station out of the thousands in LA, gas appears to indeed be $6 a gallon, but I hardly call that a trend.  Maybe its $6 a gallon because its the only station that includes a blow job.  Lol

Hey at least he conceded that you get pussy, unlike that other poster who just like his best buddies hasn't gotten laid in years and who probably wouldn't care if he got a free blow job or not. lol

There are only ~550 gas stations in Los Angeles County.  There are ~36 gas stations in Manhattan (New York City) and only 6 of those are below 96th Street. (In NYC, some private businesses -- e.g., taxi garages -- have their own gas tanks / gas pumps but only for their fleets and not for public use.)
.
Just tossing that out because most people do a terrible job of estimating (usually over estimating) the number of gas stations in particular areas.
.
I don't know how the "550" stat was determined because of the various definitions of "Los Angeles" that may mean the entire metro area to some people or a smaller area based on "city limits" and so on.
This source says "over 550" in LA.
http://spectrumnews1.com/ca/la-west/transportation/2021/02/05/as-more-evs-hit-the-road--gas-stations-may-soon-disappear
This source says fewer than 600 in "Los Angeles COUNTY."

LA? LA County? Metro LA? Any local yokel care to clarify?

an estimate.  In my first reference above to the $6 gas, I did say greater LA/OC area, which usually includes LA County and Orange County, so it looks like maybe between 500-1000 total.   But I don't think that changes my point that ONE station out of 100 or 500 would still be an outlier.  You don't get to a $3.96 AVERAGE with very many $6.00 locations included.

I will defer to your research on the minutia, but I will stand behind my point that $6.00 is an outlier.
