END OF MESSAGE

This is Cutie Pie Cooper!  He is so ugly, he is cute, actually he's down right adorable.

This pic was taken after his hair started growing back in.  He lost most of his hair due to the toxicity of rat poisoning, that some rat ate, then decided to crawl into our yard and die, and then be eaten by Cooper.  He is after all, a Rat Terrier.

He's about all of 3 pounds now.  He's suffered complications due this whole ordeal.

I took into the vet because I knew something was wrong with him.  My chief complaint to the vet:  he's staring up at the ceiling fan and wont respond to me when I call his name.  He just stares at the ceiling fan kinda cationically.

My vet thought I was nuts, but I know Cooper, and this was not Cooper.  He kept him over night for 5 days, did xrays and couldnt come up with anything, except that he wasnt eating and didnt have a bowel movement.  Not having a bowel movement was chalked up to the fact that we wasnt eating.  Wrong!!!!!

He hadnt had a bowel movement because the rat was stuck inside him and he couldnt pass it.  The rat didnt show up on xrays because the rat bones had decomposed meaning Cooper ate the rat, after it was already dead.

The vet only figured this out after Cooper took a medical nose dive in the middle of the night and they called me and said they need to open him up.

He lost a big portion of his bowel due to necrosis of the tissue.  He also lost the part of his intestine that absorbs calories and nutrients.  He only absorbs about 15% of what he eats.

He has a feeding tube to get the calories and nutrients he needs.  Amazingly, neurologically and physically, besides the feeding tube, he is still the same old Cooper.  Just a happy go lucky dog, just happy to be here.

About a year after this whole incident, he comes through the doggie door carrying a dead bird.  I've rectified that problem for now.  He doesnt get to go outside unless he wears his muzzle.  Its kinda funny to see a sweater wearing, 3lb dog, in a muzzle.

I will say a little puppy prayer for him!
He is very cute though!!
Hugs to you and cooper!

It's a challenge to keep him nutritionally supplemented.  It literally goes right through him.

I have a 150lb. Great Dane/German Shepherd, and Cooper out eats her, food wise.  I mean, he is constantly eating.  He gets up in the middle of the night, just to eat!

Other than the feeding issue, he really is, just the same old Cooper.  He is just so happy go lucky.

Chloe & Michi, both are adorable!

I love the bigger dogs in particular.

She has two beautiful *he man* type of dogs.

WHERE ARE YOU HONEY!!!!!

This is my Abby, she is 150lbs., of Great Dane/German Shepherd love.  Daddy was a German Shepherd who lived next door to the momma Great Dane.  Daddy Shepherd, dug under the fence to get a piece of momma Great Dane ass.  Abby was one of 10 results of that union.

She looks like a Shepherd, but she has the mentality of a Great Dane.  She is a 100% total mush babyness.  She couldnt hurt a fly if she wanted too.  On the flip side of that, she does sound really mean behind a closed door, but the second you open the door, she is wagging her tail.

My fav. has a Rott. and a Boxer though.

I'm just not a fan of 'Pocket Pooches'.

and i'm sure glad he's mine. I adopted Herbie 2 years ago and can't imagine my home without him. He's sitting on my lap licking my leg while I have my Sunday morning coffee.

Love this post and hope more post their buddies pics...Kisses Haley
