I travel internationally in latin America for about 11 months a year. I am usually in some little one donkey town in south bumble phuck.
I was in who knows where Mexico, deep in the mountains . We are driving on a dirt road and came upon a fence and gate. We stop and a little girl (Probably 10 years old , dirty, and no shoes) approached the drivers window and my buddy gave her 10 pesos I think - about a dollar. She then opens the gate. This is just a convience thing so you dont have to get out and open the gate yourself. She make a few pesos for her family and it's cute
Well I get out to strectch my legs and she sits back down on a dusty stump and is making leather braclets, necklaces and such. I mean some really intricate cool stuff !!
I break out the camera and take all kind of photos of her, the jewlery ,and me and her together.
I puchase about 5 different items from her for around $20 USD. Thats a weeks wage for her family and NOTHING to me.
The smile on her face was priceless and of course I photographer her and that smile
Yep, the photos and jewlery were a HUGE hit to the special lady I saw when I returned home.
It was a measley $20 , made the little girl happy , family had food, and the provider to this day mentions it regularly and even occasionally sends me nude photos with just the simple leather jewlery on
I do this all the time and mainly just because I like to give !
OH YEAH I forgot the end of that story .........So after a long , HOT, dusty day we head back down the mountain. Yep, there was the little girl again, probably 10 hours later ! This time she grabs me out of the truck and leads me by the hand to this little "shack" - her home. The guys follow of course and there is mom and dad shaking my hand and opening a cold Corona. In come the guys and beers all around, in a dirt floor , smokey shack, drinking beer.
Its dinner time and we are starving , knowing its another hour into a village where we can eat. I paid another $20 for the lady to cook us an UNBELIEVABLE meal - God was it good !
Dad just talking, laughing, and handing out COLD Coronas when needed.
Good times, and a simple gift for a lady who provides a hell of a service that I sincerly appriciate !

I see provider websites where an entire page is dedicated to items they wish to receive if a client is inclined to purchase a "gift" for her (beyond her fee) Some of these items, or requests for gift cards at expensive retailers seem quite extravagant and, IMHO, pretty presumptuous! I'm curious as to how many "gifts" the ladies actually receive? Be honest! I've given flowers, candy, candles for no reason and gift cards, or extra cash during the holidays but purchasing expensive jewelery, weekends away at spas etc is a bit much.
