I once had a top-rated touring provider who sells on the premise of luxury and the ultimate in class send me a ghetto nasty-gram calling me everything but my name after I politely declined a dinner invitation with her.

In an effort to get an idea of who was speaking to me this way (and why seeing as though it was virtually unprompted) I searched her domain and lo- found her legal name and address.  I said so and needless to say- she didn't have anything else to say to me but she immediately re-registered her website privately.
Everything happens for a reason so perhaps she just had to go into a drunken rage with me unprovoked to learn that she'd been exposed to the public for the past few years.

When clients offer me as a reference, in order to protect their privacy an guarantee that I am not responding to their snooping significant other I will verify that women writing to me as references are legitimately providers.
Just last week a woman wrote me from her real life business email in a smart phone accident and I had her full identity.  Alternatively women write all the time from email addresses which they've used to sign up for social networks for their real lives.

If you find a providers identity through your own reverse research to protect yourself I would suggest that you gently let providers know when there is a security hole in their business.
I've had clients search for me on social networks and I've received email prompts saying as much and it annoyed me- bu it helped me correct potentially dangerous situations.

If you are afraid of upsetting a lady, send an anonymous email from a web-base account to let her know.  She may be irritated or angry immediately...but I guarantee you she will correct it and ultimately appreciate it.

Well first of all...while this may seem like a difficult thing to do for some...to others it's not at all. It's not like you have some uber secret security tricks that make you James Bond and you're not going to be bothered teaching anyone else.

That aside...keep what you find to yourself. While they may look in your face and seem interested and appreciative...at the end of the day you're just going to be that creepy, scary, snoopy guy. Some won't see you again. Some will broadcast this about you to everyone who will listen. Some will blacklist you faster than hell.
Information like this should be shared ONLY with someone you have come to know very well and have a "relationship" (I hate that word) with. Even then...you have to make it sound like it's something you just found out...and then they are going to want to know why you were looking after knowing them so long...so you have to have a story for that. Otherwise they are going to think you were creepy since day one and that after all this time...they don't really know you. So you're screwed either way.

It's my opinion that when someone knows something....99% of the time the reason they share it is to let the other person know how smart they are. Woo Hoo. It may be veiled as trying to "help" and inform....but it's usually just for ego.

I have let ladies know...  ladies I have seen & intend to see again... of obivious security concerns.  One (had not been in the business long) had an ad which gave a highway exit number.  It's near me & I know there's only one little motel at that exit.  I emailed her & the ad was edited within the hour.  She remains a Fav.

When I screen a non-reviewed, hard to verify in other ways, new provider I do run a phone number search to get a real name so I can check for LE and known criminals to keep me safe. I don't do this if I can verify in her some other way as I respect the need for fake hobby names.

Thing is I can and do often get her real name this way and with this I can learn anything I want to know. Id I can do this so can anyone else who wants to invest in a good phone number look up service. Real names getting to the wrong person can be bad for the provider. There are reasons for the fake names after all.

So providers if you where vulnerable to your real information getting out would you want to know? Would you hold it against the guy if he told you how and why he snooped? I do respect your privacy I just need to be safe. I would share this information with the lady in hopes to keep her informed of her vulnerability by not using a non-registered hobby phone, but fearful of being blacklisted because I shared.

P.S. Alias used as I don't want any PM on this subject. I am not going to teach anyone how to get a ladies real name. I also don't want any fall out from the ladies for snooping. I would never let out her real name but some are ultra sensitive to this kind of thing.

From screening. They think that their personal information is not easily obtainable, but quite a few of them leave breadcrumbs to their personal identities.

It is best to keep the information to yourself as it should be of no use to you. I would not tell the providers either. She/they are responsible for their own level of privacy.
Silence on your part is the best way to go. Don't get involved in sharing. It could lead to bad ramifications some of which you already cited and worse.

Many providers are doing exactly the same thing that you are to their potential clients.  In fact, many civvies are doing it with potential dates. I'm quite certain that the ladies are not thrilled about how easy it can be to find real world information on them in this day and age but it is, at the very least, an incentive for them to cover their tracks as well as possible.

I am not sure if this will be helpful to you or not...but last week I posted a similar message on the boards. I never use BP but I did and like you I wanted to do a search for the providers email and number to insure they were not LE. I found her facebook page and essentially learned everything I wanted to know about her (family, real name, she has a daughter that I found and I know her hometown). I felt pretty guilty since my only desire was to either find a review of her somewhere or make sure she wasn't LE. I would think most providers would not want their information out there like that.

However, I also think most providers would make sure their information wasn't easily available. I mean, why not have a Provider email only used for the hobby like we have a hobby email? Also, why not shut down your Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare? or at least make them private? Also, why not use a Provider phone that's only for the hobby? Don't use your real phone number?  The incident that happened last week is still messing with me a little, but I would think Providers need to be just as careful and discreet as hobbyists. Any provider insights to this?

This seems to be a problem mainly with new providers or the younger ones, as girls who have been in this business for awhile, would never dream of putting a phone in their real name. So, some instances where you may THINK you know someone's real identity, you may just be chasing a phantom ghost. I had a regular who thought he had found out my real name, as when he e-mailed me, a name would come up... NOT my real name, but he thought it was, until I explained it to him. You can get e-mail accounts, phone numbers, etc, in names other than your own... and most pay-as-you-go phones don't require a name AT ALL....

Yes send the info through an anonymous email account. I would be creeped out to know one of my clients knew my real name. I would be more grateful than creeped out if I got a tip there was a flaw in my security.

Depending on which sources of info you're using, you might be getting even more fakes than you think. I still get calls mostly from bill collectors on both of my phones (real and hobby) for people I've never heard of. I've had my real number for MANY years so it's not like it's a brief holdover from the previous owner of that number from six months ago.

If there's some sort of Deadbeat Borrowers database and you punch in my number you'll get a bunch of names that aren't my real name or my fake name. While I wouldn't like my name to show up under any circumstance, it's ever so slightly reassuring to know that there is confounding info from other fakers using my number to scam lenders.

I guess it's a good thing I don't use my hobby phone on real loan or credit applications.

I usually google email and phone. I am usually looking to see how many sites she has posted on any any negative comments. And to get a general sense of her Internet presence.  Sometimes you find useless information like she posted an ad to sell a piece of used furniture two years ago or posted a comment on a movie.
