new technology and getting screwed

Just traded in my Range Rover for another vehicle that has Microsoft Sync in it.  Well, before I could take the time to disable it, the Fing vehicle shows my text messages popup on the display screen.

If I had not designated certain people in my address book as:

1. Unknown Text
2. Unknown Caller
3. Unknown Number

You get the point.  I would have been FUPED.

Watch the new tech stuff and I recommend 1, 2 and 3 above just in case.

Has this happened to anyone else?

and it's also the reason I got rid of my last laptop and bought a Mac Airbook. no more of those annoying "preparing to install updates"

I drive old cars so I have never run into these kind of things anyway, but if you had a hobby phone it seems you wouldnt have to do 1, 2, and 3 above! :)

My car is 4yrs old and the bluetooth/handsfree is more than enough a concern when I receive a call with others in the car.

A car used to represent "freedom"; now it's a tracking device and eager stoolpigeon.

Delete them immediately after use! Also, don't forget to delete your map history too (You should do this even if you have a hobby phone).

You will only be taken where you "have" to go, not where you "want" to be.

Yep, got to do it right after you sync your phone book.. I don't let salesmen sync my phone book as safety valve. I do it my self.

Xyz my # 1 ATF is to come up with colleagues in my car. Wouldn't that be a riot especially with following question "do you hobby too"?

Holodecks are from Star Trek, they simulate anything.
You want to play a card game with Einstein and Steven Hawking?  Go to the holodeck.
You want to be in 19th century Paris?  Go to the holodeck.
You want to screw 20 escorts tonight?  Go to the holodeck.
Then when it is time to leave the envelope, just say "end program" instead

If I ran the Ford motor company in the future, that is how I would make these cars.  Husbands would leave their wives in order to buy these cars.  Forget about all this bluetooth and Microsoft syncing contacts nonsense.

My bucket is ten years old and the doors are practically rusted through but I'm keeping it until the pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel.

Yep. Somebodies wife.

Maybe married guys should start going completely old-school and get one of those little black books; ya know with paper? And, they can hide it in an old cookie tin buried in the backyard. And, set-up appts by snail mail to a PO box. Old is new again.

Even Aldous Huxley never saw this coming:)

Well I thought I had the technology side down by disabling my bluetooth connection when my significant other was in the car.  But technology is insidious.  On a recent in call I was running late, gave the valet a 20 to keep it out front but took the key with me (car has one of those remote keys you don't actually put in the ignition). So car is sitting in front of hotel, he needs to move it, goes in glove compartment and finds paperwork listing my home phone as my cell.  Calls home. She answers then calls me to inquire of my whereabouts - of course I am officially at work.  She asks why a hotel is calling looking for my car key.  Not a good night.  But I will never ever forget to leave the key with the valet again.
