New Survey Should Be ...

The new survey asks us to choose between a 5/10 in looks/performance. I'd rather know the answer to a different choice, which would be much more representative of something interesting ... the point where looks OVERTAKE performance. I think that point is somewhere in the 7 range. So, for example:

Which do you prefer? A provider who rates ...

A. 7 in looks and 9 in performance?
B. 8 in looks and 8 in performance?
C. 9 in looks and 7 in performance?

That's a much more difficult choice. I choose option B, and that's because I know that option A's "9" in performance is so subjective that it might not pan out that way for me. It's a much more representative survey, than the radically divergent 5/10 choice we have now, which is, to me, a no-brainer. I certainly choose performance over looks if the performance is so weak as to be reported as low as a 5. At some level, though, I choose looks over performance, as long as BOTH are above a certain minimum standard, around 7 or 7.5 or so.

The current survey is to find out what is more important to you, looks or performance. and was suggested in the messages below.

See my post on the LA Board in the link.

The regression equation for price as a function of appearance scores and performance scores shows that each additional point in the escort's average appearance score is worth $45 and each additional point in the escort's average performance score is worth $5. (The actual regression equation uses the sum of the last ten scores instead of an average so the numbers are $4.50 and $0.50.)

It may simply be that appearance is easier to market than performance. The equation doesn't say why difference in appearance accounts for difference in price 9 times as strongly as difference in performance.

Also, the average performance and appearance scores are around 7.2. Very few escorts who TER reviewers are actually generating new reviews for have an average score of 5 or below for either performance or appearance.

My personal minimums for average scores are about 6.4 for both performance and appearance at the present time regardless of how low the price. Thus, I can't pick either choice in the survey.

However, giving the average score as "(appearance, performance)" I would rate a (7, 9) as equal to a (9, 8.5) so I clearly rate performance ahead of appearance.

"The current survey is to find out what is more important to you, looks or performance." Yes, I understand that this is what you are TRYING to find out. And, as my original message suggests, you are FAILING to find out, because of the radically divergent numbers you have used. If you had used closer numbers, you would have found out more information. In fact, another response in this very thread points out that looks are generally worth MORE than performance (in L.A.), even though your survey suggests (erroneously) that most men prefer performance over looks. Thank you for repeating an obvious concept entirely out of context. Another example of typical American innumeracy.

I will now try AGAIN to make myself clear:

The survey WISHES to distinguish between looks and performance; but DOES NOT; because the numbers are TOO FAR APART. Using 5 versus 10 TELLS US NOTHING. Using 6 versus 8 DOES tell us something. Duh.
