Just curious if it happens often and how it goes.  Happened to me twice in the last month - what are the odds?  A few weeks ago I ran into a lady friend in the post office.  She was a bit embarrased, because she was in sweats and no make-up, having just come from the gym.  I thought it was delightful and told her so.  We had a nice chat and a laugh about the odds and went on our way.  I spent the rest of the morning remembering our last visit and smiling.  Then, just this morning I was having a coffee in a local shop with my financial guy and in walks a lady I've seen a few times.  Now I am 60 and she is a really hot 30 something.  She glances over and seeing that I am with someone, keeps walking to the counter.  She gets a coffee and leaves, but I guess I couldn't hide my wry smile, because my guy says "do you know her?"  Just admiring an attractive lady, I said, and we went back to our discussion.  But for a while it was hard to concentrate on the numbers.  She texted me later to be sure I knew that she did notice me.  Still smiling!

Now both encounters were pleasant surprises for me, and seemed to not bother the ladies at all. But I guess that there are occasions where that may not be the case.  Would love to hear from both sides on this.

I saw a professor once, but he was a professor before he knew I was London Rayne ha ha. New Orleans is not a big place, contrary to popular belief, yet I don't recall ever running into a client whilst in public. I've never even "just ran into" my SD, and he lives just one exit away.

yes, on 2 occasions. The first was on a flight out of NY during the holidays, this past year. Sh was someone i'd seen a couple of times. She ended up sitting in the seat directly in front of me. She noticed, smiled and acted non chalantly...We were both in first class, where people don't mingle anyway.

on a second occasion, i ran into a provider, dressed down, looking like a gorgeous GND, at crosswalk, we smiled, chatted, and since we both had the day off, took her out to lunch and spend the day together just handing out.

It's been too many times to count, but one of the more memorable ones was seeing a girl I had seen on the subway.  Immediately she smiled, knowing that we had seen each other, and it was like you described.  My buddy with me was wondering why I was smiling at the girl, to which I said, "I think I fucked her before."

This being NYC, it wasn't outta line to forget about how many different girls you fucked.

Saw a gent in a grocery store once I was alone he approached me I was a little uncomfortable I was very surprised.Goes to show sometimes a city with millions of people can be a small world.

just a smile & a nod of the head as one would an amiable stranger.  You don't want to out you or her by accident!  You must be certain that there is no SO or friends or family nearby...

That's what I was wondering.  What was it that made you uncomfortable, if you don't mind my asking?  I would never want to do that.  In my example at the post office, we made eye contact and she didn't turn away, so I figured it was okay to acknowledge.  Would never do that had she been with someone.  We had a brief conversation as I would if I ran into a neighbor.  Don't know why anyone there would have thought twice about it.  But it was kind of fun because we had a shared secret.  You are right about it being a small world.

Even if you don't see me with someone, what if they are in the restroom or getting the car...

Text or E-mail me Later...Do NOT come up to me in public EVER. It ruins the wall of fantasy asking me about my cleaning, postage, gym, etc.

I would NEVER do up to a CLIENT if he was alone or with a group.

EXCEPTION: If we are the only two people in an ELEVATOR and I start the conversation.

I was seated with a girl in the biz at a nice table in a high end restaurant and my ATF comes stroliing in with her man of the evening and sits 4 or 5 tables away. I walked by their table on the way to the rest room and made eye contact with her just to let her know I was there. I waited till I saw her go the the ladies room and and I went back to the mens room, had a quick hug and hello and she laughed. We still mention it and that was about 3 years ago.

I do yoga classes and I have a guy I see who showed up and now does the same class 3 times a week. I see him professionally two to three times a month...now thats close for comfort. I usually go with a friend and he keeps his distance as we have talked about it. If I am alone we will chat.

Dear Ms. Rayne:
I was wondering what conundrums did you have when you first entered the business with respect to this and what were some of the things that you considered   when things of this nature came up? Also I am wondering when you set your price structure up so that you would not see so many local guys was this one of the situations that you were trying to avoid?
Also would you say that you business and pricing policies have served you well considering that this has only happened once?

Interesting!  All those things just make you real, and more attractive in my book.  But, that being said, I would never approach someone who looked away or kept walking, or whatever.  I run into people all the time from different walks of life.  Ladies I've met at a party, ladies that work in a client's office, and so on, some older, and some much younger.  Never really thought much about it.  I just thought the odds of running into a provider I've seen twice in one month was pretty amazing.  And in my case neither seemed put out about it, and I have communicated with both since.  I do respect your feelings on the matter, and apprediate your candor!  Thank you for responding.

In other words, two people I know in the civvie world have popped up here. One is now a regular client, the other (after the awkward realization that we know each other pretty well) came to a mutual agreement with me that neither of us would speak of this ever again haha.

Not even your mom, friend, etc.

I cannot understand the big deal when two people talk to each other or acknowledge each other like civilized people do in public.

Suppose, it all depends on the company you keep.

It was just the point that someone I saw in this business I am seeing in my civie world.
He tapped me on the shoulder and I was certainly not expecting to see this person especially in the store that was some distance from his home.
I think I was also uncomfortable wondering what he was going to say?Who is around?
I was by myself at the store he was respectful he did not say anything that was inappropriate but it was just weird to me.Also,he wanted to have a conversation I kept it very short and sweet told him to email me later.

There was one other time years ago I was in walmart with my mom shopping and an owner of an agency I used to work for she came up to me.
Talking about awkward I was trying to give her subtle hints to keep going and she started walking following me talking her head off. Finally,I had to whisper to her "Hey,that's my mom can you just move it along?"
Some people know how to play it off and keep it moving and then there are others who do not know the meaning of the word discreet.

It might be pretty hard to explan to YOUR wife, boss or business associate, how you happen to know a 20s co-ed.  You might put HER in a position of having to lie to her mother or sister or child  who that 60 YO guy was she was talking to.  One can acknowledge each other, eyes lock, a nod of the head...   without giving away that you KNOW the other.
If I can take a twist on a reply above
"Do you know her?"
"No, but I'd like to!"

This is about discretion people.  I'm sure there might be exceptions...  but need to be sure both are OK with it.  I have read on these very pages of Gals approached by clients & embarassed in front of friends & family.  Do you think the gal wants her friends knowing how she's paying her tuition?

Pretty commical - while we literally backed into each other before the game started at the very crowded bar - we both looked at each other, jaws dropped, turned away and looked back and both of us were like what are you doing here.  I did sneak out for a quick drink on a so called bathroom break.  He was more uncomfortable then I was since he was with his brothers.

So, when I run into them, exchanging pleasantries has never been problem. Besides, I teach college courses where there are plenty of twenty some thing women.

One can embarrass anyone if, they don’t use good judgment and start talking about stupid things in front of others.

I have, sounds like you handled great. I'd suggest if you see someone in "real world', give acknowledgement, let her decide if she wants to engage you. (never know, could have a boyfriend/important friend/family/whatever). Waiting for her. Keeps her from forcing to explain.

Using that advice, I was at a convenience store. Got out of my car, did the courtesy head bob to the guy sitting in the car next to me. Walk in, see her, smile, she says "Hey, what's up" goes running to her car GUESTS IN DUDE'S CAR.

All of these happened in Manhattan, of all places.

One was an English guy I saw for outcall once, he was very kind to me. A few weeks later, I opened a cab door and literally he was RIGHT THERE...helping a delivery person who seemed to have fallen off his bicycle. I froze, thought I was mistaken till he opened his mouth and I heard his accent. Our eyes met but I didn't sense any recognition from him (I was in my 'normal' mode and bundled up).

The second I have never seen outside of escorting, but I was shocked to learn that we have a close mutual acquaintance...his personal assistant (former now) was my college roommate's sister.

I had a 16-year-old kid contact me once. Looked him up on facebook (before I realized his age) and saw that we had a mutual friend. YIKES!!! I was terrified that the mutual friend had somehow found me, and put him up to it...then I realized how farfetched that was, lol.

Anyway, just proof that it really is a small world.

When I meet someone, I tell them they can say hi if they ever run into me in public... but I won't do the same (obviously) unless they start it. Hilarious that I go to coffee at the same place as a somewhat regular, and we chat lightly. Our little dirty secret! Makes it fun actually. I always seem to run into a guy I know at Brewers games (not sure why)

I doubt it is for his benefit, but for hers. Sorry, but my dad is not stupid. If every time I was out with my parents, I just happened to run into several men in their 60s, he can put 2 an 2 together. It is not easy for me to explain how I would know so many older men, considering I do not work in real life with many of them unless they are Doctors or former Professors,

I would prefer not being approached, because I can't explain the question of "How do you know him." It's simply awkward, and I don't like being put in the position of having to lie once again, to whomever I happen to be out with.  I also don't spend much public time with older men in my home town, for that same reason. Out of town...I go nuts, which is probably why I offer so many off the clock dinners lol.

We were both connecting in Memphis, back to New Orleans. He lived in Baton Rouge, and I had seen this guy waaaaay back in like 2008 when I first started. We ended up having a little fun on the plane, in fact. I totally forgot about that one, but that's it I think. I will drink some more and report back.
