I will invariably know their real name. In private, I use that.
In public it depends--is it a "professional" date or a "friends" date? Where are we, who are we with, etc. But generally to be safe I don't use any names in public, nor do I use "babe", "honey", etc. Discretion is a practiced skill.
their name or something similar to what a character like The Duke or Gus in Lonesome Dove would use but never in a million years would I say "boo". That word drives nuts. To me it's almost as bad as " Baby Daddy ".
