1.  I took a con law course by a professor who spent 30 years studying Miranda, and I will never forget his advice:  LE's job is to assume every person they interact with have committed a crime and LE's sole job is to figure out what the crime was.  So don't play games, don't interact.  just goofing with them is the crack they need to open you up and you won't see it coming.

2.  I have worked for the same lawyer for almost 12 years and he has this habit, regardless of whomever he is talking with, that if someone says something that is borderline trouble, he just states "well, I do not know what that means" or "I do not know what you mean" and then carries on.  He was once being investigated (guilt by association) and LE had him on tape having a conversation with someone who was breaking the law (my boss didn't know about it) but all LE had was a bunch of "I don't know what that means"... and it got my boss off (the friend got 5 years).  So I use the dumb approach... "I don't know what's up (or what you mean) but I have to be somewhere so I'll see you later" and that's it and walk away.  If he stops you repeat it- "I don't know what you mean with that question".  If he asks you again reach for your cell and say "I'm calling my attorney" or "I'll have my attorney call you, let me have your information".

Having read the arrested devastated thread  I was wondering if anyone has been stopped by LE after leaving a providers incall & questioned.  Like what ru doing here ?  Came to c a friend ?  Whats her name ?

That's really none of your fucking business now is it officer.  Am I free to leave?

Nuff said!!

The number one rule is......Don't talk to the police !!!!  There is NO PC (probable cause) and NO legal detention.  Don't ever talk to the police.  If you do, the first minute you will be a witness and the next minute u will be a suspect!!  Again...,  rule number one..  don't talk to the police.  Ask them if you are detained, when they say no...  Leave

Spot on.  NEVER, EVER talk to them.  First words out of your mouth... I do not consent to searches, am I free to go or am I being detained?  If they want to detain you you say " I am exercising my right to remain silent, Id like to speak with my lawyer."  no matter what they say or ask after that, you say " I am exercising my right to remain silent, I'd like to speak with my lawyer."

... I saw a video made by a laywer advising people (mostly of color of course) what to do when the police stop them in the street for no fucking reason and the answer is... above all do not have an attitude and then ask if you are being detained. Chances are you are not. But if the answer is yes then shut the fuck up except for "I am exercising my right to remain silent. I want a lawyer".

but anybody that has a JB in front has to be a expert

hell she already knows how to resell the same product over and over

..kept walking to my car...

I wanted to tell them, "My mommy told me...NOT TO TALK TO STRANGERS".  Wonder how that would have sounded coming from a grown man...

But not good to poke fun at guys in the uniform.

You have right to remain silent, so use it...

I would just smile and keep walking. Unless he is going to arrest me at that moment, I don't see any reason to talk to him. Be nice and force his hand.

I was visiting my cousin Bertha.

Is that a crime?

No, you can't search my car without a search warrant. May I go now?

What seems to be the trouble officer?

You don't suspect me of anything, do you?  If he says that he does, ask: Where do you ever get that idea?  If he says that they have reason to believe that the lady in said apartment is practicing prostitution, just shake your head and walk away muttering:  "What is this world coming to these days?"

Notice, that every statement you say should be formed as a question, not a statement.

Never ever lie to LE, in fact don't make any declarative statment except for your name and address if he wants it. If you make a statement, and they find someone to take an opposite tack on it, you could be charged with a felony of lying to a police officer.  (That is what got Martha Stewart in jail, by the way.)

If he wants your cellphone ask him for a warrant first.

Keep asking, May I go now? and start to move away.

Always smile and be polite.

When LE realizes you are more trouble than you're worth, they'll let you go, if your lucky stars are out, anyways.

Also remember, when they say that they already have all the info they need to lock you up because the gal spilled the beans, they are lying.  If they had the goods, they wouldn't be asking you questions, they'd just cuff you and toss you in the back of the car.

(still not a lawyer)

Sagacious. Kudos Mr. F. I think I will make my own little card!

Anything you say... ANYTHING can and WILL be used against you.  Do NOT converse with them.

I do not consent to searches, am I being detained or am I free to go?

If the police approach you, politely ask them if you're being detained.  If the answer is "no" go on your merry way.  If the answer is "yes", ask politely what you're being detained for.  Whatever the answer, your polite response is "I'd like to speak with my attorney before answering any questions."  Repeat the last line as necessary.

Anything other than this, is inviting trouble.  Trouble is bad.

As many of us know, the police are really great at being "chummy."  Of course, there is a right way to say nothing! There were a few times that I wish I had conjured one of them up instead of trying one of my own ways to say: "Piss off. I'm a citizen with rights under the Constitution of the United States. One of them is that I don't have to talk to you or your pals with my lawyer present It says so on your little card, there." Most likely, should edit that quote a bit to sound less obnoxious....

If she has a private incall locatioin, carry a bible in with you.  You can always say you were "witnessing" to her.  (I get bible thumpers knocking on my door quite often).

If you are visiting her at the hotel, carry a folder or something to make it look like you are dropping off some documents for her.

If you blend in with the surroundings, no one is going to question why you are there or what you were doing there.

don't say anything! No phoney stories. No half truths. Don't answer questions. period.

If the police are going to harass you for walking out of an incall or hotel room; it means they are watching the room and you will be questioned regardless of your demeanor or what you are carrying.

If the police are not watching the room, then the only way the police are a threat to you is if someone in the hotel calls the police or alerts security that there may be a problem. Chances are, if happens, it has nothing to do with the John's appearance or any factor he has control over.

and only nervous answers the question what are u doing her? Answer nothing! what are you doing here, again? None of your business or I am not going to answer that. (turn on your voice recording on the Smart Phone)

What’s her name? Michelle Obama!

You are being a smart ass, aren’t you? No, I thought you asked who the First Lady was!

Presence of Mind is some have, some don’t and some will never have.

Self Confidence, some have and some will never have.

Being aware of the environment you are in is different than looking behind your shoulders every 10 seconds. Something like some drivers checking their brakes every 200 feet or so.

To be honest, if a cop ever asks me those questions he is going to be ignored.

You will get stopped and questioned if the police are running surveillance on the location you are visiting. It doesn't matter how nervous you are or how confident you look. If you are a male and walking out you will be stopped and questioned. Otherwise, I can't imagine who would stop and question you walking through a hotel lobby minding your own business.

I walked in, a big, burly LE guy grabs me, and questions me.  Takes my business card but ultimately just a warning.

That was enough.
