Flawless seizure

I awoke this morning to discover that Flawless Escorts has been seized by the feds. Google it for more info. Since I was a customer of theirs once - just a few weeks ago - should I now be worried that the feds have my name and info?

Before the FBI breaks down your door and takes a swab of your dick to see where its been the last few months.

Seriously, unless you have high-profile name recognition, why do you think they would single you out from the list of customers at the agency?  If you're not a preacher or running for political office, I don't think they care who you are.  They love to target hypocrites and those that are newsworthy by name recognition.  They don't much care about us average Joe's unless they actually catch you balls deep in a hooker during a raid, which is just a result of bad luck, not stellar police work.

Said agency had some of my info -- though not my name or personal phone.  I'm still waiting for a knock on my door.  Glad I wasn't holding my breath.

Sure now they have your shit. But unless you’re a prominent individual or have a shit load of cash and property, not worry.

All agencies are and have been susceptible to this. The catch is, finding the $ to make it worth the $ and effort to pursue.

Could bust Eros or other agencies, but likely can’t find the $

I read the warrant for their arrest and have to say they got them good. They had their bank accounts reviewed, they were able to trace the hotel booking account back to their IP address, and they had a witness too.

I'm curious as to why the Feds aren't cracking down on all agencies. Seems like it's pretty easy to get the evidence they need from what was listed in the warrant.

A long customer list and they just haven't gotten to you yet.  I think the passage of six years is premature to let down your guard.  You should keep an alibi under your pillow at all times.

of a digital "paper trail" are just plan stupid and deserve to be culled from the herd.  Hotel accounts and bank accounts used for prostitution shows they don't know what they're doing.  This should be an all-cash business, and if anyone asked me for a CC for a deposit or anything else,  I would run the other way.

Most agencies don't make it this easy for the Feds, so that's why more aren't busted.  Many operators start making good money and start erroneously thinking they can run an illegal business the same way as a legal business.

While CL and BP were in full swing it was relatively easy for LE to set up sting operations and snatch up batches of clients and/or providers. It'll be interesting to see if, in the current environment where nearly everything associated with sex work is labeled as "trafficking," agencies become the easiest path to multiple felony arrests, asset forfeiture, and increased federal grant money flowing to local departments.

I don't want anybody to give away any secrets, but how do you do almost anything these days without a phone number and CC? I mean, you can do a few personal things discreetly, but you can't operate a business that way ... can you?
.
What hotel will take a phone or on-line reservation w/o a CC? There used to be a bunch of run-down flea bag hotels in Manhattan (NYC), but they weren't the kinds of places that even took reservations. Even if you pay by cash upon arrival at a legit hotel, there is a record of holds or invisible charges and refunds on the card (charge $1 / refund $1 to confirm that the card is good). I am not expecting to hear, Good afternoon, Four Seasons. ... Yes, we accept rolled coin: Krugerrands and Maple Leafs only. ... I am sorry, we do not accept quarters.
.
It appears that they used Eros and one or more other ad sites and their own website. How do you pay a major domain registration service w/o a CC? (They used Network Solutions.) How many of those businesses will accept bitcoin or cash as payment? Some, I guess, but ALL?  ("They paid, for example, over $180,000 from bank accounts under their control to advertise for the Website and to pay expenses of individual escorts.")
.
They probably could have reduced some of their exposure but not all of it.
.
I am sure that we have many dangerous individuals (radicals, terrorists, mentally ill) that are known to LE authorities, yet they are able avoid surveillance to perpetrate horrible, violent crimes. Do we really need Homeland Security and DoJ and other agencies pouring resources into the investigation of consensual adult activities while others have more freedom to plan and execute their violent acts?
.
Can't they just fucking leave us alone? I mean, leave us to fuck alone. I mean ... you know what I mean.
.
Decriminalize, regulate, tax.

You can go to a grocery store, pay cash for a couple of American Express gift cards, then use the codes to anonymously pay for just about anything connected to this business, such as placing ads by providers or paying hotel bills.  There is no digital trail back to you unless you volunteer personal information to go with the payment.  (Many members here use this method to pay for their VIP.)  This agency that was busted having a charge account at a hotel for their girls to use when seeing clients is run by morons.  The people that run this should not be allowed to reproduce as it will dumb down the overall human gene pool.

What? Why debate one criminal activity against another criminal activity?

It is a waste of an argument and time.

Or was there some venture capital involved, or a hedge fund merger? Crowd funding maybe.

I don't really check the ad venues, it's been a while since I have heard mention of this outfit.

The last time I tried the pre-paid CC thing (for TER, an international payment), I picked a card (I don't remember, maybe Visa?) that asked for SSN info, as if I was opening a bank account. I forgot: some cards don't ask for that info. Some cards work without a lot of detailed info for domestic use. So there are ways, just not as simple and straightforward as pulling a card out of your wallet.

What? Why debate one criminal activity against another criminal activity?
One is a peaceful, victimless arrangement between consenting adults that should not even be a crime and is not a crime in many developed nations. The other activities are acts of violence against innocent victims that also produces fear and terror in many others. It is, rightly, deemed a crime to plan and execute such attacks.

I was going to add that I stand against the Stamp Tax and Sugar Tax and the Tea Tax. I suppose you'd advise me to shut up,  pay up and obey the law.
