Catherine Zeta Jones does not have HPV on her vagina -- she is too classy for that.  Douglas admitted DATY, contracted HPV and paid for the consequence, he should disclose the source.

I used to think Douglas as a classy guy.  Now, when I look at men on TV -- celebrities, politicians, nobles ... etc ... I have to think how many of them had gotten into 69 positions with hoes.

his hard partying lifestyle certainly contributed to how his body handled the HPV.  His womanizing, drinking, smoking and drug-filled past is well documented.  He has admitted to going to rehab for alcohol abuse.  I'm not judging him, but let's be real here....

If you've had even 2 sexual partners, you likely have some strain of the Virus. Not all lead to warts or cervical cancer, and some are virtually undetectable for years. Do I think that is how he got it? Sure, why not but I doubt he got it from his current wife. He is like 60 years old, so is she the only woman he has ever had oral sex with? Right.

Gardasil has been around for a few years now. A series of 3 injections given to teenage girls to prevent future cervical cancer. Some MDs also advocate innouclating teenage boys too to prevent the spread of HPV; so this newest generation should experience a decline in HPV related infections and cancers. I don't think this vaccine is approved for adults, however. As always, it is good idea to discuss with one's own physician any health related matter

At an inservice I went to it was said that Gardasil is for ages 9 to 29 . If someone older gets the shot
it will not fully work though a small percent of it may protect against one or more different strains of the disease.

It is particularly found that men who have sex with men are also known to carry the
virus and are high risk for HPV 16 & 18 which can lead to penile or anal cancer as
well as cancer of the throat .

GYN's were not aware of this a few years ago it is still being investigated and very little is being said
I will sit back and wait. I know one thing though. More men need to stop fucking and see a Dr because they are carriers and are most likely the cause since it is not detectable. While they come here running their stupid fingers on the keyboard they probably are in denial that they are carriers.
I look forward to reading who really did inquire . DATY? fugetaboutit my sweet little kitty will grow claws now !

The 80% to 90% is a lifetime risk, that is 80 to 90% will be infected at least once during our life time. At any ONE time only ~1/3 of the adult population has some form of HPV. At any one time ~ 3% are infected with  strains of the virus that cause oral and cervical cancers.  Only 1% are infected with HPV type 16 link to oral cancers. For most of us the body clears HPV virus, including the cancer causing one, like it does for cold virus. He was a smoker and drinker and both are thought to cause up to 50% of the oral cancer. It not possible to conclude that HPV 16 was responsible for his oral cancers.

I also doubt he got it from his current wife because it usually take decade (latent period) or more before infection manifest itself into a cancer.

The reason it will not fully work is because  presently by age 29 most of us have been exposed to HPV targeted by Gardasil and have develop immunity against these HPV strains or will go on to develop a cancer in a few decades.  This is similar to how many us have acquired immunity against disease such measles and Hep A.  That is why Gardasil is recommend for the very young( 13YO) before they become sexual active. Giving Gardasil to those older than 29, for most of us, is equivalent to closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Then kindly explain why the CDC says otherwise? It flat out states if you have had more than one sexual partner, you have had or will have some form of HPV. Whether is is "passed" or not, is not the issue...most people have the shit in one form or another.

"Anyone who is having (or has ever had) sex can get HPV. HPV is so common that nearly all sexually-active men and women get it at some point in their lives. This is true even for people who only have sex with one person in their lifetime (CDC, 2012)."

The CDC says: " nearly all sexually-active men and women get it at some point in their lives" .  This is a life time risk estimate.  Most of us clear the HPV virus so at any ONE time only 1/3, of us have some form of the virus.  Not 90% as your post states ("most people have the shit in one form or another" or " Over 90 percent of the population has some form of HPV")  Presently, about 1/3 of us  have some form of virus in us now in which we could infect our partners. Less than 1% of us have the HPV-16 thought responsible for oral cancers.

An analogous situation is the flu or cold virus.  Nearly all of us will get the flu or cold at some point in our lives. Most of us will  cleared the flu or cold virus so at any one point in time only a small percentage have the flu or cold virus that could infect others.
