Ten years ago I needed some cash so walked into a strip bar looking to cocktail. They talked me into stripping. Did that for over 5 yrs years. Also tried phone sex briefly, and computer/video chat sex. Worked as a dominatrix. Did bachelor parties. Now I do basic fbsm with a handjob. Make $ for this, which IMO is plenty. I've never done porn of any kind, only tasteful nude photos. Have never offered oral, full service or "toy shows" or anything like that. Never did "two girl" shows, never masturbated in front of anyone. Those are my limits I am comfortable with and I've stuck to them over ten years now. I do not consider escort work to be demeaning, I have friends who escort. I personally just don't feel comfortable committing to any further level of intimacy with people I don't know, it's just not for me.

I've asked many of the providers I've gotten to know how they got started in the business.  (This was no scientfic survey, but just general conversation with at least 10 different providers.)  In almost all cases the provider said she started out doing something else in the "adult entertainment" business before becoming a full service escort.  Most started out as strippers, some started out doing massage, two did magazine photos/porn movies.  (Only one I've asked jumped head first into being a full service escort without doing one of these first.)  All of the providers who did something else first told me they never expected to end up doing full service.  They said two things changed their minds.  Number one being that they didn't make particularly good money in those first endeavors.  Number two was that their attitudes changed regarding full service, that is, they decided it was not demeaning for them to perform full service.

Ladies, was this the case for you?  Guys, have you found the same to be true for the providers you know?

first for me I'm afraid.

I was on a train one morning in London, and decided there was more to life than waking up at 5.00 am, scraping the ice off the windscreen, driving to the train station, parking the car and hoping it wouldn't be broken into before you came back to it.. getting on a train, then a tube, and then walking to the office, and then working for a moron who treated you like dirt for 40 hours a week for a pittance.

I replied to an advert for an agency asking for escorts.. They didn't take me on because I said I wouldn't sleep with my clients, I would just go to dinner with them!  lol

After another year, and some research, I got really dolled up, butterflies going mad in my tummy, and I went along to an interview with another agency knowing full well what was involved (pre internet days and before mobile phones!)  I left my day job within a week of starting and haven't looked back.

2) Never demeaning
3) I make LESS money than I did working fulltime however that's based on 2080 hrs a year, versus (?)______? Big difference!
4) Escorting wasn't intended to be my main source of income, however, as it presently (temporarily) is now

Before I did this I worked in the adult entertainment field as a personal assistant for a porn star who escorted on the side and that changed the way I viewed sex providors. I never had a bad opinion on them in the first place, i just thought it was harder and more psychologically damaging than it actually is.

I work full time in a different field currently but I'm a part time massage escort but I could see myself becoming full service in the future if I get more confident in my skills.

Personally almost every reason I'm in this field has to do with self esteem issues althought the money does help, it wasnt the deciding factor.

I was a mortgage consultant for many years, and before that, I worked at a software company. I started feeling bored with my life(sexually, that is), so I started off doing phone sex (part time at nights) on some line (yes, I will admit to it LOL). I actually met my first client from that line, and he told me about the "escort world", all the many types of boards to post on, etc., and to this day, I still keep in touch with him ;) Lately, I have been thinking about going back to doing mortgages (which I had always enjoyed doing, but it sometimes takes forever for a loan to close=waiting to get paid) on a part-time basis. I will admit, the money does keep me from going back to doing mortgages, and the variety in sex is a fantastic!!!!! meowwwzza ;)

Mel, a guy I work with says his son-in-law and daughter make $3 mil./year doing mortgages.  They work out of their home, originating and funding their own loans, reselling them in the secondary market.

I guess they starved for two years, trying to get enough principal together so they wouldn't turn "jumbos" away (they're in the S.F. bay area).  Then they reached critical mass.  He feels their business now entails absolutely no risk to their working captital.  Does this sound right to you?

If you know the lending business, why not get a stake together as something to fall back on after you marry your ATF?

I was doing some modelling for extra cash but didn't like it much and met one or two models who also escorted and decided to give it a go.  I was surprised that I didn't get nervous (OK, probably the first time I did but I don't remember that part!), just excited and even more surprised how much I enjoyed it.  I never considered not doing full service - why short-change myself like that?!  lol  

I also never considered it being my main source of income as I kept my full time day job for the first year.  I gave up the day job a year ago so I could travel more and I've had a great year, been to lots of countries (mixture of business and just plain vacation time) and haven't looked back since ;)
