Aliases don't help

...if you're too specific.

I don't have any categorical proof.  But, I'm convinced that a couple of the pros that I've seen in the past figured out my alias, and have consequently ghosted me after I referenced a less than stellar interaction with them in my posts.

Or, they could no longer tolerate me.  But, I don't think that's it.  My hygiene was always impeccable and I was always good about making their "tribute", and would often tip or bring gifts.

Now, I'm prepared to hear from those who are "anti-alias" to talk about "being true to oneself" and "plenty of fish", etc.  But, I prefer to build a level of comfort with a provider over multiple meetings.  You can say its stupid or pointless.  But, isn't this hobby about doing what makes you happy?

That said though, they have a point.  I believe that using an alias hasn't helped me in any way, he said, posting under an alias.

I thought you might be talking about the TER alias feature. But when you said, “I believe that using an alias hasn't helped me in any way, he said, posting under an alias.” I started thinking you meant your TER handle… which is an alias in the general sense.

But regarding the TER alias feature, I agree that it’s not a good idea to be too specific. One of the main reasons I use my alias is to make board posts about my experiences with providers without naming them or identifying them in some other way. When I want to “name names,” I use my TER handle that has my reviews under it. I have to laugh when a few people here try to get me to reveal the handle associated with my alias by pushing me to give details about my reviews and the providers I’ve seen.

I'm referring to the alias that I use in the boards.  Which, like you, is different from my TER handle, which I use to post reviews.

I have to admit, It's very disappointing.  I love using the boards as a place to share specifics about my experiences, and get opinions or advice on how to handle various situations.  Now, I have to filter myself here as well.  Fuck!

It has kept me safe for years from Harold Bissonette. And Mr. Muckle.

Them figuring you out after you share details about them is nothing new and to be expected. Only way to stay hidden is not to share those type of details.
