The Richard Gere character was a male escort.  IIRC, the opening scene showed a pretty ripped Gere putting himself through an extremely grueling workout.

I also have no idea how accurate such a portrayal is--but I always kind of assumed that male escorts are held to a higher standard in the looks department.

The thread on the Chicago board raised an important question. Do male escorts take better care of their bodies and more trim and fit than their female counter parts.  
   
 I have seen a lot of out of shape female escorts than male, online of course. I am not gay so don't have any first hand experience.

It's probably just a bit harder to make the dream look more realistic. Plus for some reason i think if a girl will decide to get for her self a male escort, we she will want to get prince charming. And most guys well we can see over here, all those reviews with 2-5 scores, guys still sticking with what they got lol lame.  
Women is more demanding! has bigger expectations...

If I thought I could make big  bucks massaging out of shape women  without spending hours every day telling  guys , NO WAY , I would .  I don't believe there is much of a market for paid male companions  for women  in my area .even though I see many more out of shape  guys than girls out in public .
  The better someone feels about their  self , the better care they will give their own body..
 Being Homosexual or Heterosexual has nothing to do with the shape someone is in ..
  If you doubt that fact , quit spending time on  guys looking for guys sites and go to a city known for homosexuals , Key west is an excellent example of one size doesn't fit all and a fun town for anyone that isn't judging .

deciding what to wear, matching it up, made me tingle I certain places! I rented it 15-20 years ago, played that scene over and over. It was back in the VHS days, lol.
