We have the advantage of knowing a lot about the provider before we contact them (assuming we are seeing reviewed ladies and are making use of the available databases). They have no idea who is on the other end of the phone. We all should understand their need for safety requires screening. There have been many threads on these boards over the years pointing out many very good reasons that TER Whitelists and P411 OKs are not, of themselves, sufficient. I am single and not subject to blackmail. So I routinely give my real name, address, and employment information when asking for an appointment with someone new to me. I have my own protocols for my safety. I take it seriously and (so far)  my approach has worked for me for over 10 years.

There's a small number of players here who, because they are self-employed, retired, independently wealthy, etc., have no concerns about giving out personal information. But the rest of us have jobs, SOs, etc. that give us pause. That's where references come in.

Women are more likely to face physical harm, or worse. Men have a lot more at stake financially and career wise (divorce if spouse finds out, loss of job, etc.).

there was a time when I was better known here and I could just said, I'm Robertini from TER. I write the stupid posts. I used to have this same mindset until my personal info was given out by an established "reputable" provider. I will never give it out again.

I am not going to divulge my personal info especially if I reach out through P411.  I encourage all providers I have not visited to go ahead and verify my references.  This has never been an issue though, but if it becomes one I will gladly move on.  Hookers are just like any other commodity;  there are great ones, good ones, fair ones, and awful ones.  I am pleased to state that I usually have indulged with the great and good ones.  They don’t pry into my private life, and it is appropriate for me to return the favor.
