I put this on general board as I know i'm not the only one with this delima.
I only see providers who will provide incall or will get the incall motel location. I add it into her donation.
The only two times I've gotten the room myself was when I had a local lady with many reviews called and said she was running late and asked if I would get the room. She said not to worry as her clients assured her this motel didn't send any junk mail to your home address. I paid cash but they wanted my drivers license which made me nervous because it had my home adress. After we finished I told her about me being nervous with the motel having my home address so she said to call the lobby and tell them under no circumstances do not send anything out about my stay. The lady at the motel said they didn't anyway.
Last week it was the same thing. My ATF was running late so I was at the motel and went ahead and paid cash. Once again they wanted my driver license. Well, it didn't look like the type place that sent stuff out so I even asked my ATF out of all the times she got us the rooms did she ever get anything. She said no.
Well last night I'm sitting at home and the wife was on her laptop and looked at me and said, that's funny, I just got an email that you stayed at the _____ Motel and checked out on Nov. 20th? I told her I was playing golf that day with friends (as I really had later in the day) so why would the motel send such a thing. Not only that it was sent to a hotmail account she had set up in my name (that I didn't know existed). I told her it must've been spam and tried to laugh it off. I was able to go out later that night and call the motel and explain the problem with a very nice lady. She said she would make sure if anyone inquired that no record would be found since I paid cash. She also told me to call the manager this a.m. which I just did.
So after this long story, can someone tell me how they do this. I've seen posted about getting prepaid cc but how do you get around not showing your driver license??
I will not be renting any more rooms unless you guys can tell me how to get around this issue.
Thanks in advance for your help and input!
I only have 1 mailbox key and I keep it. If you use a discount travel site the hotel will require your drivers license. The last few times I have had to tell the hotel not to type my address in their computers.
Sometimes a PO box does not help. One of the credit card companies got my home address by crossing referencing it from my PO box. They sent me a bunch of credit offers to congratulate me for using the hotel chain. I had to call them up a few times and tell them not to send me mail to my home address.
If you use a particular hotel chain you can can get their vip card so you don't have to show your id.
You can buy a prepaid card at a gas station. Put the amount you will need on there. If you only use it once there's no concern with putting your info out there. The one I use is active for 30 days without the personal info.
Most hoels do offer membership reward programs, but they will want a address to mail your card. If you sign up online-make up an address, you will get your membership number as soon as you are done applying. Remember the number & you will be good to go![]()
The real problem was they ask for a driver license. The cash should be the same as a prepaid card. I don't go to the same motel or chain so not to leave trail so a vip wouldn't work. Really wanted to know if anyone knew of a way not to show driver license (what to tell them???)
Whether it's the Waldorf in midtown or a Motel 6 in a small town I have always had to present a valid ID (driver's license) whether I pay cash or not or whether I'm a diamond member or not. Good luck with that one! -e
Judging by reference to Waldorf @ MIdtown you are no stranger to NYC. In that case there are at least 2 places the city where room can be secured on short notice and without IDs or credit cards. Although I highly doubt these places have many onvernight guests ![]()
I think motels/hotels are required to verify ID upon checkin. I don't have any problems because I'm single and have occasion to travel on business. You can stay at a small cheap hotel that's not part of a chain, but you need to check the part of town it's in. Most of the ones I've seen like this are in areas where I don't really feel safe/comfy. But that's just me.

Many decent hotels/motels won't even take cash anymore! They require payment on a credit card - and some won't even take debit cards anymore. In Los Angeles - there's a place where you can rent a room with a private jacuzzi to spend some time with someone and not check into a motel. In Vegas - I saw an ad for this place: HOT BODIES SPA
Located 3131 Industrial Rd. Las Vegas NV 89109 that has private rooms. Not every provider can provide a place for incall. Some motels actually have providers' photos to warn security about her - so that might not be a great idea either. Are there any other places you can think of to meet besides home or a motel?
You can't check into a hotel without showing a picture ID regardless of how you pay. The hotel will also more than likely record your address. As to how they got your super secret email I can only assume that it's some kind of fishing software that a marketing company hired by the hotel chain used.
Shit happens. Stick with in calls if you want to be on the safe side.
Since the hotmail account was not yours, obiviously you'd not provided it to the hotel. Surely a case of mistaken identity!
I might be better to provide a secure email address so the hotel does not search for another.
Why on earth wouold a S. O. have an email account in your name? Very strange. Watch your back.
