I had an acquaintance, hardly a friend, who had been a pilot for a major Pacific air carrier then got laid off after 9/11. After that, he got a VERY good job in Civil Service making really good money (probably more than a First Officer) and with a lot of security. About a year ago he was offered recall to his airline and TOOK it.
Why?
Because all he could talk about at times was all the Filippino pussy he could buy on his trips through Manila or the old Clark Air Base. To me its one of those 'go figure' moments.
Other rumor was that some of the 'pussy' he was buying over there was actually young male.
Bottom line... there is no telling who will 'hobby' in the right setting.
So, I work in the 'entertainment industry' and we occasionally requires the assistance of the NYPD's tv/film unit (yes, believe it or not, there actually is a special unit dedicated to working tv/film/etc).
Anyway, fairly recently I was on a job and was chatting with one of the officers on set and the subject came around to women (as it invariably will given time...) So, the conversation starts innocuously enough at first, but after a little while he turns the conversation to travel - and where he 'travels' - Amsterdam, Mexico, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Thailand. It occurs to me pretty quickly that he's talking about well-known monger destinations. He even gets into specifics on where to go and where to stay and how much certain services may cost in various locations, even how much a payoff may run if you happen to get busted in one of the places where such services are not technically 'legal' (as he did in at least one case). He was pretty candid about all of it, which was very surprising considering I didn't instigate any of the conversation other than to ask a few questions.
