For those of you who wonder about the possibly of becoming infected with HIV from performing DATY,there is a newly released spanish study that suggest the chances are almost nil. This study (conducted over ten years) deals with both homosexual and heterosexual participants.Check it out.

Sadly this link is no longer valid. A search of the site it is directed to yields nothing similar to this study.

If you have a copy of the study or know of another mention of it I would love to read it.

And it does seem to be good news. I'd read the study on gay men that was done and reported odds of getting HIV from oral sex (on gay men!) to be around 8%... you can find that on the CDC website, I'm sorry I don't have the link handy anymore. Regardless this site says...

"there was a less than 2.8 per cent chance of infection through oral sex over a year. In 2000, a different San Francisco study of gay men who had recently acquired HIV infection found that 7.8 per cent of these infections were attributed to oral sex. However, the results of the study have since been called into question due to the reliability of the participant's data."
