if your pc has been "kidnapped" by a virus - it can send out spam / emails without you knowing it.

Some virus' will do it and send a copy to your sent file.  Most don't.  But I'd check your sent file to see if there is any spam going out.

Make absolutely sure you have the latest updated virus protection and you run a scan.  I've found that AVANT is a great virus protection service.  And for home users - it's free.

Next, ask your ISP to check on the activity of your PC.  They can track (they hate to do it so be firm)activity on your system.

I recently started getting this message when trying to send to hotmail - anyone know what gives?

my ip address has been blocked..message says ive had complaints ...

I would check to see if you have a virus.  Your computer may be being used, without your knowledge, as a generator of spam.

In the meantime, if you have a dial up account you can use that to check your email if that account hasn't been shut down.  You get a different IP from your ISP every time you dial up.

a good idea if you are visiting "adult" sites?

Visiting adult sites is not illegal.  Plus, I thing by "activity" he is referring to the amount of traffic being generated.  If a PC is used as a spam zombie there will be a lot of traffic generated.
