In a recent thread several providers stated that a common question put to them was "How did you get into the business" which may be perceived as somewhat personal and intrusive. However, because of the intimate nature of the interaction and the highly stigmatized and polarizing perception of this business it is a fascinating subject. While each provider's path is unique, I imagine that most (all?) providers weigh the same questions when first considering entering the business of P4P.  We all know the possible downsides and risks as a provider in this business. My question is, what issues concerned you the most and how did you rationalize or otherwise deal with your fears and justify the risks before your very first P4P encounter?

You know that not every person is equal. This can be how they grew up, how successful they are, family values, and things like that. If you grew up with nothing, then some people gotta do what they do to survive. Some do it because they have no choice.

On the other hand, some do it because they chose to. Some do it as a career change. This one provider told me she was doing messages, then started doing special messages, then she eventually became an escort.

There are plenty of theories and views, but all seem to be the same. You can search the for the sources, its readily available if you need more info on this topic. All seems to be the same though. They wouldn't be doing it in the first place if their wasn't any financial gain.

What if I get caught, family or otherwise...
What if I get hurt?
what if I get an STD?
What if I just can't do it with Him...

How did  I justify it..
I am doing the very best I can do, I am educated, I save my money when I can, I had to be there when my son was very sick. I also had to be a mom to my other kids and that meant being home and not working 2 jobs at 16 hours a day. which I tried...

So for those that judge me or say it is lazy or whatever.. I tell them to take a walk in my shoes. It may not be the life for them. but it is my choice and I own that choice. I am always welcome to hear some suggestions or if someone is willing to pay my bills or help me or my kids get thier education then I am in for that too!!!!!

and I can't spend a lot of time with the same guy...this business takes care of all of that. I also will not be told what to do, punch a time clock, and I want to be able to work when I want and see who I want. For now, this works for me. In 2 years, I will be looking to get a job in my field and settle down somewhere on the beach lol.

field. I am working for FREE 20 hours a week at a local hospital to gain experience....here's hoping! Even with a Masters, you would be surprised at how low starting salaries are for someone with no experience...less than 60k. Take taxes out, and I may as well work as a bartender! I have regular business mgmt. experience, but not Health Care mgmt. Big problem for potential employers.

putting together faux marketing and business plans, public speaking, etc. I know this might seem shocking, but I am rather nervous speaking in front of large groups of people on cue. I work a real job so money wasn't the initial incentive. I was divorced and tried dating again, well I quickly learned that the guys i was dating just wanted to have sex with me. Now I'm not saying I was looking to get married, because I wasn't, but I wasn't looking for just sex, if I were I would have found an FWB.  So I decided if a guy just wanted to have sex with me then it was going to cost him. I've been doing this for a year now, I still have my real job and I have a pretty lucrative supplemental income as well.

The underlying question you would want to ask yourself is what are you transferable skills that you have gained in your previous employment and how do you use that to make a case that those skills would be integral,critical and essential to helping you function for your new career?  I can't wait to you have professionals who work with woman who have been in the adult entertainment industry gain mainstream employment on your show.  Perhaps Sharon Mitchell would be a good guest to persue this topic with.
