TER General Board

Maybe change the routing

I am attempting to send a message to TER admin right now, but I am getting an error message when I try to click the box next to "I'm not a robot." I swear that I am not a robot, but I am using a TOR browser to access TER, so maybe that is the issue. I have never had this problem with "I'm not a robot" in the past here, though I have had to confirm my non-robot status from time to time.

Most of the complaints about access so far are related to "free" sites.  I signed up for Express VPN.  They have a special now for 15 months for $99, which includes three devices.  That's six dollars and change a month!  So far, I have loaded it on two computers and my iphone, which are the same devices I used before.  I have full access at the same speed I had using Bing or Google in the US.  Yes, the robot page still comes up, but can be addressed as quickly as before.  It amazes me that there are so many here who spend three to five hundred dollars an hour for hookers are trying to get something for nothing when it comes to access speed.  The only complaints I have seen about express VPN so far are from a few morons that don't know when you set it up you have to choose a host country OTHER THAN the US.

The reason for a lower level of service is obvious.  Paid VPN's are the same as with TER.  We get a first-rate site with TER because they get their revenue from user fees, which allows them to keep everything up to date and any problems that arise are quickly addressed.  "free" sites don't have a predictable revenue stream from their membership, so they are forced to find creative ways of getting revenue other ways from their users.  Most often, this amounts to selling your email address to commercial vendors (any of which are in the US would be subject to US jurisdiction and the subpoena power of the courts.  They also track the sites you visit with cookies and sell that info as well.  Paid sites will not compromise your personal information or ID.  Read the privacy statement on the free sites before your sign up, and you will see the freebies have "limitations" on your privacy.  That's so they can generate revenue to allow them to operate.

I have no financial interest in any VPN's, so I'm not shilling for any in particular, but I am perplexed that so many of my hobby brothers are going cheap  when it comes to protecting their privacy.  Just my take.  Others may think the freebies are okay, so I'm not going to argue the point, just present the facts as stated here.

You'll come around. Maybe soon, maybe it will take a while. Don't blame the humans for not telling you sooner.

I assume TER balks when too many connections come from the same IP (such as thru a VPN.). I managed to post a trouble report without any issues by selecting a VPN router in a far off country (India.)
So you might try circuits that are less likely used by everybody else if you are getting "captcha'd."

I recall having that same problem before with TOR, but it's working fine for me now

there are two ways to kill a sex site as a result of SESTA/FOSTA.
1) You can keep running it pretty much as it was and see what the Feds are able to do to an offshore site.  OR
2) You can so compromise the site in order to protect it that you make it impossible to enjoy, ruin its functionality and destroy it from within.
Looks like TER has chosen the latter approach and is doing the proponents of the new law's work for them.  I wonder what TER's value is on the open market right now?

... intermittently for a short period of time a couple days ago when just trying to get onto the message boards, but it hasn't happened since. I'm just using a free web proxy since that's all I need at the moment.
