There is a faction of hobbyists that take immense pride, pleasure and braggadocio in 'breaking-in' or 'turning' a civvie into a pro.  

  The "strange ad" is no different in its intent than an ad on Ashley Madison, Cougar Life, or Sugar Daddies by a seasoned strumpet.
