I'm just curious, other than PS, who's the most famous or well known provider past or present? Is there an ex-singer, athlete, actress, etc. who decided to get into the business?
However, I could be wrong.
The only one that comes to mind is: Lesa Ann Tyler of Dallas who was a former Playboy Playmate of the month in April '84 who went by the name of Lesa Ann Pedriana.
Teri Weigel, who went on to become a porn star, and still available for escorting is one. I don't know the names off the top of my head for the others but you could have, and may still find some in the "VIP" sections of some of the agencies who also book porn stars and other centerfold models.
Shauna in Florida was in Penthouse and gets great reviews.

Billie Holiday was pretty much super-famous, although she was prostituted as a minor against her will so I couldn't say that counts as "provider".
The Claudian Roman empress Messalina was famous throughout Rome for her sexual voracity and offered samples for sale to the aristocracy (or anyone else)... she had been warped as a girl by Caligula. This account only comes from Suetonius (who was of course an ardent Republican, and had in in for the Imperial family) so who knows if it was true or not.

Plenty of "most famous"es in history. Cleopatra, Iphigenia, Mata Hari, Judith (of Holofernes fame -- talk about thinking with the other head!), Ganymede (aka Catamite, a young man who provided to older men), Joan the Fair Maid of Kent (gave syphillis ((?)) to Edward the Black Prince, son of Edward I of England), but I think the question is directed more at "modern celebrities" than "famous fucks."

We all know about Xaviera Hollander (who got famous for providing, not for something else before or after, so that doesn't count), and Teri Weigel. I have seen plenty of "I've been in Penthouse / Club / Quadruple-F" ads, some of which are probably verifiable. Shauna in Miami, for example, as mentioned. I remember a story (probably still in the archives at Canbest.com) of a local TV personality / actress (had done some local news standups, and had a recurring part in a drama) who turned to providing in Montreal, and at a pretty decent rate to boot. In her case, I got the impression she was "into" being alternative, and wasn't so much being a provider for the love of sex or for the money, as much as for the titillation of proving to her more stodgy friends that she'd do it. I got the impression, I say. I didn't see her, and hadn't heard of her when I read the anecdote.
Then there's all those unknown starlets you've never heard of who never "made it big" in Hollywood who show up married to a fairly famous writer or director. And you CAN'T tell me that some of them weren't providers, or porn actresses at second or third pop, earlier before they snared their wallets ... ahem ... husbands.

On the issue of Anne Marie being a courtesan. Although I remember reading the "investigative" piece on Salon.com about her, there were no corresponding interviews in it with anyone who had actually been a client. Similarly, I can't remember anyone on these boards who had claimed to use her services. That is, there were no first-hand accounts of her being an escort.
IMHO, I always had the feeling that she was using the net and these forums for studies leading to a master's thesis, or some such.
On another board there is a HighDollarHottie section she moderates. There are 2 posts of gentlemen who dropped in to say hello to her who have seen her before. She is definately an escort, but is very discreet and low volume. I also received an email once from someone who used Anne Marie as a reference and she knew him to a t. I think she sees about one person a month, so I'm wondering if it would have been hard for her to get one of her clients to be quoted in Salon magazine... An interesting article to say the least!

Thanks for the first hand information, which does more to verify Anne Marie as a legitimate escort than the Salon article. I always thought that reporter was trying too hard to get a date. Still, would be interesting to hear from an actual client...
No she is FOR SURE working, but you are right when you say that the reporter was in awe of her... poor guy never did stand a chance...lol, just kidding! I can't blame him, she is HIGHLY educated, tall blond, I mean it's uncanny how she carries herself, one would never guess she would be in this industry. I guess that's what makes her so intriguing.. to tell you the truth, ok I'm admitting, she is the one who taught me most of what I know about the websites, etc. She's a spectacular girl, and ok, I admit it, she's my rolemodel!
