Am assuming that WD40 falls into same category as vaseline, baby oil etc.  Recommendations for my dilema please?

actually - I thought I knew everything - then a lady uses COCONUT oil on me - the cooking kind that is solid at room temp, but liquifies on your body (body heat) and is the silkiest smoothest stuff I've ever used - amazing - not sticky, easy to rub off with a towel- yet doesn't lose it's slippery-ness

Baby oil is still good for: HJs, titfucking, afterglow massages.

Vaseline?  Probably for tiftfucking as it gives a lot less slippage than oil or Astroglide and still prevents skin chafing.  

Problem is that those oils can be very difficult to clean off for another course.  There are sanitary wipes that might break up the oil.    

There is a water based lubricant known as Probe, which is kind of thick and very good for greek.

Those type of lubricants may also cause yeast infections for women.

Never ever use vaseline, baby-oil or any kind of oil as lubricant. THE CONDOM WILL BREAK!!!
I can tell you that. In the past had 4 condoms accidents in 1 day because of this, first didn't new it was the oil. Had to run to emergency for Profilaxis because of dangerous sexual exposure. Was sick for a couple of months of the Profilaxis. Fortunatly everything was ok and no HIV or STD.

Durex Avanti, Trojan Supra, and the female condom all are made of non-latex polyurethane, and oils, lotions, water-based or silicone-based lubes can be used with them.

For latex condoms or toys, use water-based lube, such a Astroglide, or silicone-based lube. No massage oil, baby oil, lotion, or Vaseline.

Silicone lubes should not be used with silicone toys.

I always use the water based lubricants due to anything with oil can break down the latex most condoms are made of. I also use the water based when using the female condom which is polyurethane simply because the ones I use work great and why complicate things with this lube for that condom and the other lube for the other condom.

I also normaly keep in my little bag a jar of body butter for basic massage because I have found that it is much smoother and does not dry out as quickly as most lotions and unlike massage oils you do not have to worry about the oil being left over.

After much study (do a search for Lube 101 and you'll find just some of the stuff I've read) here's the cheat sheet on lube:

~ Saliva is not lube, neither is a woman's natural juices... think of the difference between liked lips and chapsticked-lips... much better feeling, no? No lube = micro tears on the skin on both partners, means bigger risk of transmitting STDs.

~ Always, always, always use lube for anal sex... there's no natural lubrication in the butt and doing without (or with saliva) can injure the receiving partner. Even junky lube is better than nothing in the butt...

~ Never ever use anything with the word "oil" in it near a woman's parts. Not just because it will break down latex condoms (cuz it will) but because oil causes yeast infections and more in women. Infection = out of commission and unhappy women.

~ Water-based: great for most play, though it dries up. The slippery stuff is still there, though, so dunk your hand in a glass of water left by the bed, touch the fun parts, and you're back in action. Watch out for lubes with glycerin in them (like Astroglide, one of the cheapest and worst made lubes on the planet, IMHO) which is close to sugar (as far as the body is concerned) and can cause yeast infections in many women (including me).

~ Silicone lube is my favorite, because it's inert (won't cause reactions), super-slippery, so you don't have to use as much, and doesn't dry up (especially good for anal for that reason, and in showers/hot tubs). Can stain sheets if you spill a bunch of it, and can hurt some cheaper toys, but all in all, good stuff. A little bit goes a long way. Oh, and ingesting too much silicone lube can give you a stomach ache (from BJs, for example).

~ Flavored lubes tend to have sugar or glycerin in them (which means yeast infections for the girls), watch out for them.
