There are threads on the HULK, K. Hepburn's death etc. - That's all great but it clogs up the site - can't you folks just stick to the program and do that kind of message boarding at another site?

Amen to that!

I don't mind the stuff about Hepburn. But I DO mind the posts about %*#$*)%%%% POLITICS. If I want to read that crap, I can go to my daily newspaper or an online news site.

The only politics that are appropriate on this board are those pertaining directly to the hobby, e.g., the Mayor of East Bumfuck orders crackdown on prostitution.

since i'm one of the ones you implicate in your condemnation, i'll be the first (i'll be gentle and succinct)

who died and made you the arbiter of what's "topical" ?

if anything, what you complain of is what sets TER apart from the endless array of inane msg boards discussing BJs nine ways to sunday and cluttered with ISOs and whatnot

tolerance and freedom-of-speech ... look them up!  :)

Do providers only offer physical?  What about mental and emotional levels?  Are we all not people with a variety of interest and accomplishment?

If you don't like it.  Turn the channel...

perhaps you are looking for something erotic and being frustrated for not finding any, yes? Because how hard is it to simply ingore a thread that starts out being obviously about something "non-erotic" ?

Actually I partly sympathize. I for one find political discussions boring (as in a serious yawn!) but I simply don't read them. Trust me, not reading them is very efficient compared to what you apparently are doing, which is wading through them hoping to discover a little juicy nugget.

participants and in extension carried those impressions to posts and comments from those members about other ladies in their respective regional boards.

I know when I plan to visit NYC, I will check out fortitude's past posts.  Similarly, now that I had read a few posts of singleton and orthodx here, I will pay special attention to their reviews and recommendations in Boston and NYC boards.

Florida and DC boards used to be very lively and vabriant.  Ever since many of their members who used to participate in General Discussions have decided to fade away, I don't really feel like checking or occasionally posting in those boards.

Sometimes when off the topic threads got out of hand, I will stop myself from continuing the discussion and let others take over.

BTW, since this is the General Discussion board where no discussion about a particular lady should be discussed (it should be in the regional boards), how many new non-specific discussions are there to draw members attention?  Quite often many topics have been covered in the past.  It is the new POVs from other members who make them interesting again.

JMHO, it is the differnt personalities of the TER community who made this board worth our time.

Have peace.

Thank you Spectator - yours was one of the few thoughtful, reasoned responses to my initial post.  I respect your view point.

Most Providers 'know better' than to be confrontational on the boards, but in this case, I'd like to come at you with both barrels and not even give a shit!
Who are you to say what the topics are and should be? The idea is people relating to people; men to men; men to women, etc and that relating is helpful to the hobby as getting to know each other vertically (and how that works) helps tremendously in getting to know each other (horizontally)and otherwise.
Maybe you should stick to the boards that are stuck in 'converstations' that are as obtuse as "Hey, anybody seen Sparkle - she's hot!" as apparently you can't handle anything that begins with the 'larger' head.
Lemme guess, you're probably one of these idiots who sees nothing wrong with calling someone at 10Pm and saying "yeah, uh, you busy? And do you do Greek?"

Did it occur to you that these off topic discussions serve a very important function? In some ways a real function which is more important than the usual exchange of ideas about "topical" matters. And that is to allow folks to bond (in particular the men! lol), to get to know everyone, each others likes and dislikes, economic backgrounds and yes even social status! lol

This knowledge allows trust to build so people are comfortable asking for recommendations. Frankly, the people I DO NOT TRUST myself are the ones without reviews, who mostly lurk behind quietly and only ask questions relating to "how can I get any? Can you give me her No.?

Just please have some patience for other people's likes and dislikes. That's what we all must do.

That'll be $100, thank you!  lol

with a muzzle on and had one with you for your date.  Discourse is a good thing, builds familiarity, and trust to a certain extent.  Some of these folks participating in said discussions actually know one another and to suggest this is not the proper place to catch up and trade a thought or two is way off the mark.

Thank you for all of your replies - The initial post was not done with any perjorative intent or as a putdown.

Just that I like to use my time efficiently. I do not come to the boards to "bond" with others (not there's anyting wrong with that) but to get information related to the so called "hobby" I know others have suggested that I just ignore the threads - but you still have to scroll down to get to some of the more "topical" items.

For the person who alleged that somehow I was acting as the arbiter of things that are topical - I suggest to you movie reviews (non-porn) and death of celebrities (notwithstanding porn stars) are not topical to the main purpose of this site by most people's definition so I stand by my statement.

Thanks and flame on! :)

As others have said better,  when we know who you are, it is easier to understand where you are coming from as a hobbyist.  There are many who are in it for quick sex while others may be looking for an exclusive long term relationship.  What and how you choose to participate with the board helps me to understand what you want.  If for example, you had a question for me,  I would respond with a short succint answer since you do not appear to be interested in analogies or tidbits.

So if you use that button on the bottom right which just gives you the thread topic without the messages, you may be a lot happier but you will miss a lot.

And what does ybjblman stand for anyway?

Cool Hand Luke (1967) is the moving character study of a non-conformist, anti-hero loner who bullheadedly resists authority and the Establishment. One of the film's posters carried a tagline related to the character's rebelliousness: "The man...and the motion picture that simply do not conform." With this vivid film, director Stuart Rosenberg made one of the key films of the 1960s, a decade in which protest against established powers was a key theme. One line of the film's dialogue from Strother Martin is often quoted: "What we have here is...failure to communicate."
This superb, crowd-pleasing film was based upon a screenplay co-authored by ex-convict Donn Pearce (and Frank R. Pierson), from Pearce's own novel of the same name. The main character was inspired by real-life convicted safecracker Donald Graham Garrison. The chain-gang prison film (e.g., I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang (1932)) has a long history in American films, and this one also provided entertaining performances, especially with Paul Newman in one of his best roles as Luke, after playing similar anti-heroes in The Hustler (1961) and Hud (1963). Other stars who played convicts in the chain gang in smaller roles included Dennis Hopper, Harry Dean Stanton, Ralph Waite, Wayne Rogers, Joe Don Baker, and Anthony Zerbe.

Rich religious symbolism, references and imagery are deeply embedded within the narrative, with some critics arguing that Luke represents a modern-day, messianic Christ figure who ministers to a group of disciples and refuses to give up under oppression. The film's theme - of an outsider-protagonist who transforms the occupants of a Southern chain gang institution and tragically sacrifices himself at the end - resembles the hero in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975).

The film was nominated for four Academy Awards: Best Actor (Paul Newman, who lost to Rod Steiger in In the Heat of the Night (1967)), Best Supporting Actor (George Kennedy in a break-out role), Best Adapted Screenplay (Donn Pearce and Frank R. Pierson), and Best Original Music Score (Lalo Schifrin) and won only for Best Supporting Actor.

oh wait! i'm straying off topic!  [30 lashes]

there ... now have you all heard the story about One-eyed Jack?

well ... let me tell you, "One-eyed Jack's yearning to go a peeping in a seafood store!"  :)

Trivia:  can anyone guess which MOVIE that line is from?

what, not even a "wild" guess???  ;)

LOL

Well, I look at you, tell you ain't no child no more."

These lyrics were in Big Joe Turner's original version of "Shake, Rattle & Roll."

You can bet they were not in Bill Haley's bowdlerized re-make.

however the version in the movie is: "Speaking of Jack, One eyed Jack's yearning to go a peeping in a seafood store!"  but given Lynch's propensity for oblique cultural references and the protagonist's (Nicolas Cage) own quirky Elvis obsession, i wouldn't be surprised if it's derived from "Shake, Rattle & Roll"

in the film, that line belongs to "Bobby Peru" (Willem Dafoe) who is probably the most creepy lecherous sleezy gold-toothed redneck trailer-trash n'er-do-well lout EVER to occupy  celluloid. another one of his gems is (spoken to Laura Dern's character): "I bet you f**k like a bunny"

WILD AT HEART won the "Palm D'or" at Cannes in 1990. to my mind, it's definitely the most artfully twisted of Lynch's films (and funny to boot). btw, this poster below is NOT my favorite. i picked this one in order to be "topical" for TER General Discussion board  ;)

Excuse me! Could you stick to the topic? I think a post like this belongs on the Movie Critic Board, and not on the General Discussion board, unless, however, you could somehow relate it to the hobby! Geesh! I tell you! So, I will attempt to bail you out and keep in line with the 'correct' topic matter..groan..
There's a scene in that movie where this incredibly voluptuous woman is basically washing a car with her boobs...

Thanks  - even this supposed member of the "thought police" got a laugh out of that!! :-)

At least someone isn't so damn serious about stuff!

[big smile] ... CALM DOWN ... I'M NOT TRASHING YOU!

but just maybe if you participated more in non-topic discussions -- you know, just shootin' the breeze 'bout nuttin' -- you'd get to know folks better and not be so taken aback by their criticism.  based on your reaction (starting a whole new thread to just complain about it all) i'd say you were riled up a bit.

and since i was the first to set the ball in motion, i probably owe you a clarification (and only because i'm such a nice guy! ;)

i bet if i had put a "LOL" after my first ?-mark in my first post, you may have perceived it slighly differently, or that you may have understood my subject header ("be prepared to be reamed") to be as much a friendly warning as an admonition

but then again, you may misunderstand even this "make-up post" or "cyber-handshake" and get riled up even more, who knows! :)

in the end, it's all good wholesome phun. if folks weren't occasionally RUDE to each other, this wouldn't be the internet!  L.O.L.

but what?  no one got the "wild" movie reference i put out there? :)

Sedona baby....Thanks for getting me back with the program...lol...I mean Strother Martin, in that movie, was about as sexy as watching a budhist monk on acid...but that car washing scene was real tit-i-lating.... then came the mood changer...Luke eating all them eggs.Shiiiiit.

BTW,someday I'll whisper a secret in your ear.
Wink...wink.

Cheers!

one word topic starter.   "Bamboo???"  "Anyone seen???"

If I am in overview mode, how can I tell what the topic is about?

If you are seeking info on a lady, HER NAME in the topic line  will catch more eyes, and ilicit more info.

If it is a question that I have no interest in, I will be able to recognize it easily and skip it.

I read a lot of the threads, but would appreciate clarity in the subject line to save time.

P.S.  One of my favorite science fiction movies is "The Fifth Element".  Did I say that on Mathesar's list before?

P.P.S  Hi Miss Manners!  Would you give me etiquette lessons while wearing some lingerie and black-framed glasses?  :-)

Ybjblman please take note.  This is called FLIRTING. It's not exactly "topical" but guys and gals will do it from time to time. It often comes into play out of nowhere and usually springs from seemingly pointless conversation and discussion topics which have nothing to do with sex.

That's $100 each!

That's why I like to see all the ladies attach a link to their posts. So that I know who's posting. And I know who I'm flirting with.

I'd post a link to my website but I'd hate to make all the other gents jealous. LOL

What I meant to say was "Please?".

Boy, I guess I really am in need of some etiquette lessons.  Long, drawn-out lessons, lasting far into the night.  With no breaks.  My teacher instructing me on the proper techniques, and protocols, hovering over me.

"No, that is not correct", she says.  "We will have to repeat this over and over until you do it right".
