Providers and business trips: Have you ever had to introduce her?

The post about taking a provider on a business trip raises this question:  for those who have done this, have you ever had to introduce her to your business colleagues?  What was this like?

Some years ago, I took my provider girlfriend to the American Bar Association convention.  Since I was single at the time, there was no stigma about introducing her as my girlfriend, and everything went swimmingly.  She was a head turner and it was loads of fun to catch other guys staring at her on my arm.  At one point, a female colleague left her 12-year old daughter with me and "Catharine" for a couple of hours.  Catharine was such a hit with the girl that for years afterwards, when I'd see the daughter at ABA conventions, she'd ask what happened to my girlfriend.

We had a great time at the convention; on the long flight back, we joined the mile-high club; and I remember her fondly to this day.

Others?

that I was Bev Fisher's sugar daddy.

Of course since it was a convention of providers and their allies, no one much cared one way or the other.

I remember many years ago attending a contractor's convention with my father, I was a mere stripling.  A man was introduced and the woman with him was introduced as his "escort"  - I kid you not!

Always made me wonder.

like so many other words.."gay," "queer," "provider."  Personally, I detest "Sugar Daddy," but I suppose that's a personal bias.

Everytime I use it in reference to myself I think I should have purple velvet pants and a wide brimmed hat with a feather on it, but that'n not me.  I'm strictly button down, no flash.

What do you call a relationship with a provider where you make regular payments in anticipation of spending time with her?

(If any wise guy says "marriage" I pop you one. :o)

Open to suggestions.

(I was about to say marriage till I saw your comment)...

You raise one of those topics that seems somewhat taboo in these discussions...if you have an ongoing relationship with a provider, what's the role of money?  Or, as my post about the play below says, when is it time to stop paying...or to pay more?

I've had two serious relationships with providers -- yes, where the "L" word was/is used -- and in both, my payment of money was an integral part of it.  I've also had more civvie relationships than I like to admit, and guess what? Money, one way or another, was a part of it. At least with the providers, the exchange was negotiated and explicit.  On the other hand, I don't seem to be able to get past a birthday or holiday w/ my wife without spending four figures; if I don't, I risk the doghouse...a fact that, oddly enough, absolutely floors my hooker gf.

But short answer to the question...I call it an affair.  As as to attire, I've got a white jacket, a pair of tight white jeans, white woven shoes, a black on black shirt, and a Borsolino.  If not Sugah, it's pimpilicious.

As Bog Skaggs put it.

I told Bev when we embarked upon this crazy experiment in "what-the-hell-are-we-going-to-call-it relationship that the only thing that may ever wash us up on the shoals is money.

Almost a year later we are still going strong, so I won't worry too much about what we call it.

If I see someone around with that get up, I'll give ya a wink.

I'll be the one in the Aloha shirt, shorts and the golf cap.

... "This is my girlfriend, Amber, and this is my girlfriend's, um, FRENCH TUTOR, Ciara ...."

Was that at the 96 ABA convention in Orlando?  I recall seeing a couple of guys with hot babes who definitely were not their wives.

years ago, when I was "freshly divorced" a provider/porn star offered to go with me to my ex's wedding, since we both lived in the same community!  To this day, because she was so beautiful, and a wonderful person to boot!  I wish that I had taken her up on her offer.... as my ex was 5 mo. preggers at the time... it would have killed her to see me there with a bombshell.... !!!  lol!  but alas I did not!

I took a provider to a 4 day convention in NOLA.  My boss and his wife were at the same cocktail party and I introduced my friend.  My boss's wife went white with rage and asked her husband "Isn't Ralph married, that's not Ralph's wife!"  My boss leaned over and said "That's Ralph's other wife"  To say the least we didn't sit together that evening.  However several years later at another convention that I took my wife to my boss and his wife were there

My friend sat next to his son, who sat next to his sister who sat next to me. I arrived when they were seated. I was introduced as a friend  of a mutual friend...who wanted to see the Redsox...We enjoyed the game. I enjoyed the naughtiness of it. The chance to see the Redsox at Fenway!! In this case..my behavior and his was beyond reproach.

There have certainly been other examples. Each one was handled with maturity and class!!

... when i was laid up with an injury earlier this year, my atf was over at my place "consoling" me.  none other than my mother showed up bringing me some food and stuff.

i ended up introducing my atf to my mom.  how cool is that??  hehehehe

Discretion is the key in all circumstances.  Sometimes it's ok to be seen together when away from the crowd that knows you.  Don't really relish the idea of someone calling your significant other.

Pipes up and introduces herself as your sister, and then begins filling everyone in on your quirky childhood!  lol
Later in the day my client wondered about the possibilty of being overheard in our room, should i call him God or something equally loud.:)  But i assured him it would be okay-afterall we are in Texas!   lol
And texans are always wondering if they are still related after a divorce.

Had a dinner appointment with a client who I had seen several times before and on the way to dinner I mention that this weekend was my 20yr HSR and he in turn says.."well we must go...you cant miss that!!" and as he is turning the car around my thoughts are "uhm, yeah...I can...how the hell am I going to introduce you!!  so in the mad dash to get there, we come up with the story of how we met, how long we have been dating, blah blah.  Since I was engaged at my 10 year, and divorced at my 20..we had to come up with something.

All in all a great time was had...he got along with everyone..especially with one particular gentleman who was a dear freind of mine.  My freind happnes to be "homosexual" and of course, noone knew in HS..I did, but always respected him and his privacy and it wasnt anyones business and wasnt for me to say anything, he imfact did come out of the closet years later.

Anyway...there was an after party at my freinds place, and my "date" and my freind seemed to get along...a little too good.  Seems my client was batteling whether he was gay or straight..he decided that night, he was gay!  So, we told my freind the truth and of course he loved the scandal of it..lol

In the end, we left, he took me home (no bcd took place) I was paid and he asked for my freinds number...LOL  I never saw him again, and I wonder if he ever called my freind.  Last I heard my freind moved away and my client moved as well...things that make ya go hmmmm...LMAO
