Whenever checking into a hotel why do they always ask personal questions like "what brings you in today" "are you on business" feel like they know why I'm here...They are nosey....
Am I being paranoid?Does this happen to anyone else when checking into hotel?

to provide an evaluation of their hotel, for your company's travel guide.  Maybe they will comp your room.  If not, that will teach them to mind their own business.

They ask everybody the same questions

Similar to guys thinking that hotel security is about to accost them at any moment.

I get asked the very same questions and it's doubtful that anyone thinks I am a hooker.

They're just being friendly, making polite conversation.

There are a few hotels that ask if you're there on business because they keep track of what percentage of guests are business vs. personal for their own demographic statistics.

Don't answer if you don't want to.  Since I'm usually in the suburbs around Chicago, I sometimes reply, "It's lovely scenic SCHAUMBURG.....what more reason do I need to be here?"  Hahahahaha.   Usually gets a laugh, but at the very least, a smile.   ;-)

Just be nice & conversational back to them.  Be ready to chit-chat smoothly.  Getting that deer-in-the-headlights look can raise suspicion.   So definitely try NOT to do that.  :-)

NOONER: (noun) A sexual encounter during lunch hour, especially one that is illicit.

Simply look at them and say "yes", I'm confident that they'll get the message.

The reason they ask those questions is that this is what they are trained to do, it is supposed to add a personal touch to the check in process. I always tell them, but I do so because I'm aware that they are not trying to be intrusive when the day "hello Mr. Bbj, what brings you in today".

I find it amusing when I'm walking into an incall lobby, and the front desk clerk says "welcome back", I just smile and say "thank you", there are benefits to looking average.

Yes. Happened to me more often than not. I wondered the same! Like go on with your business, why do you care? lol... :D

One thing I do is carry my US passport card with me when I check-in.  This way the rare time when they ask for ID, the passport card does not show my address, just that I'm a US citizen.  This eliminates the odd look/question of "why are you staying here when you only live 10 miles away?" They think I'm just there for business.

... Yours seems to be cut with bath salts.. You're uber paranoid.
