How to write an effective ad and "contract an agreeable intimacy"? Long before the internet and email, there was regular US Mail:
.
"May 28, 1857

Mr. Wood—Sir

Having heard of you often, I venture to address you from hearing a young lady, one of your ‘former loves,’ speak of you. She says you are fond of ‘new faces.’ I fancy that as I am new in the city and in ‘affairs de coeur’ that I might contract an agreeable intimacy with you; of as long duration as you saw fit to have it. I believe that I am not extremely bad looking, nor disagreeable. Perhaps not quite as handsome as the lady with you at present, but I know a little more, and there is an old saying—‘Knowledge is power.’ If you would wish an interview address a letter to No. Broadway P O New York stating what time we may meet."
.
Spoiler alert: The mailed proposition worked!!

I wonder what would be the modern equivalent that could show up on the New York Ad Board?
"I am not butt-ugly and my pussy don't stank?"

I've heard a few from various gals over the years that could rival it.

Que sera, sera.

claim of "affairs de Coeur".  I've never heard of her.   LOL

Ida Wood was not her real name. She used several other names by which you might know her. OTOH, she is of English - Irish descent, not Asian descent, so that would argue that you are correct about her claim being BS. However, her claim fits in with her long string of other very convincing false claims.
