END OF MESSAGE

....I have tried to steer her away from the biz...but, I do believe she's going to make the plunge...

What would YOU do, if you knew one of your good friends wants to be a provider?

Gents?  Ladies?

Thanks.

Shelby-K

Bring her to BWI for a doubles session... you owe me ;-)

Have you done her? What knowledge do you have of her sexual prowess? Is she doing it just for the money? Would she say if asked that she really loves getting fucked? These are questions that will tell us (you) a lot about what it means to be a provider. Like you, my first thought is not tell her not to do it. Given that she may do it anyway and if you are really cool with her, show her the ropes, but don't let her lean on you too much or she'll not be your friend over time. Most of all, show her how to screen.

Dear Khori:
I would tell her all the things I would know about screening. Also I would let her be with me when I screen a client and tell her what to what out for.  Finally I might have her start out at a reputable agency so she can get a real true gist of the business and so she can get some reviews of herself so that she can build up a customer base. Then I would give her guidelines on how to price herself so that she could get some bang for the buck and maybe give an incentive on reviews for herself until she can build up a clientele. Then she can up her price and see certain people that would fit a certain criteria. Also I would tell her to get a membership on 411 Date-Check and RSK2000. But I don't know how you feel about it but I think if she is going to enter this field of being a Adult Companionship Provider, then she needs to receive proper tutelage in screening and also to know if it is a dicey situation and how to get out of it. Also you should give her the internet escorts handbook by Amanda Brooks because she will have a lot of questions that she would want to ask that Ms. Brooks would have the answers to. Also you really need to discuss the psychological ramifications that go with the job and tell her to take sporadic breaks from the business so she won't get herself burned out.  I know it is not a traditional thing in this business but she needs to go on an informational interview so she can follow up on any questions that Ms. Brooks might not have addressed in her book.  Maybe it might also be a good idea that you and her share an incall since you know more about the business than she does and you would be more comfortable with being with men.  This is where you need to discuss the thespian side of being an Adult Companionship Professional as it speaks to addressing the ego. Finally outside of sex, you really need to tell you friend what she would need to read because as you go up the ranks in the business then you really need to be able to be conversant on several topics. At this point then she really will be considered arm candy, and will be just as comfortable at a company event as she would be in her quarters.  Just some food for thought as she continues to contemplate her entry into the libidinal and social world of providing.

I started as an Indy...she would not be interested in that...

Jayzus....

thanks tho...

Dear Khori:
But who would be taking her pictures and is she having a website built? If not then could she be on your website until her own business takes off? Also what type of seed money is she starting out with so that she can buy her clothes and pay for her photos that are going to be a critical part of her advertising strategy? Also will she have her screening information page built in as well?

Dear Is.It.Just.Me
My brother is always creepy with his stupid Dear Provider posts. Pay no attention to him. Nobody else does. He contributes nothing else to this board otherwise.

....many ladies have great sites that include non-professional pictures, and sometimes I think those are the best, because they're probably not re-touched.  Some tastefully done amateur photos can be great....what you see is what you get.

IMHO, the best the OP can do is, if the friend is intent on providing, to advise her of the pitfalls and let her go.

The LAST thing I'd think she'd want to do is share an incall with her.  WAY too many opportunities for misunderstandings and possible encroachment of the OP's world by an "unseasoned" lady that might be subject to mistkes.

I would give her ALL the positive and negative things that I've encountered in my years of escorting. It isn't something that I discourage or encourage...a person has to make their own decision. If she went ahead and decided to, I'd help her in every way I could about how I've chosen to run my business, what to do and what not to do, etc, suggest ideas. And answer her questions of course.

I think all you really can do is share with her your insights. The realities she will face. Then allow her to decide. If she is determined to get into the biz then she is lucky to have a friend like you to give her valuable tips of the trade.  You know , probably the best thing to do is for you to come to DC so we can have a ...uhhh..private conversation concerning this matter !

If she wanted my help, I would have read the book "The Business Side of Escorting".  Afer reading that, if she still wanted to enter the business, I would teach her everyting I know.

If someone is going to do something, you're better off making sure their doing it right.  You can't stop someone from doing anything.

I suspect she does because she's given you the impression she's considering it.
You have so much good advise.  If she is truely a good friend, you will want her to be truly educated about the pluses & minuses, the true costs & income for various scenerios...  if she truly chooses this path.

I suggest you broach the topic of life after providing.  Few can do this "forever".  She may need to continue her education, save money, Retirement accounts, & so much more.  It's kind of like driving on the highway, you need to know where you are going & be prepositioned in the correct lane to get off when your exit comes up.

You might coach her, explain the ways & means of screening.  But you should not share locations & probably not clients.  Value your friendship above business interests...  do not put either of you in a position to exploit the other.
Best Wishes,
skb

Encourage her to go in with open eyes about two things in particular:   First, it can feel very isolating. Second, it is realistic to understand that it will reduce her value in the "marriage market".

give her the pros and cons of it.. help her create  website on sites online..  help her get dates.. etc..  you know the biz how it runs.. i'd refer her out to your trust clientele too

I tried to talk her out of it. She had a lot of glamorous misconceptions. She didn't quite understand that being a slut is not the same as being a whore. But I digress...that's another topic.

Once it became evident that her mind was made up to proceed regardless of my warnings, I taught her everything I knew about the biz and tried to help her in every way possible. Unfortunately, having never been on the other side of that door, there was much she had to learn on her own - and she nearly didn't make it through her first week.

But eventually she got it together, built up a stellar rep and became quite successful, then retired in a very enviable financial position two years later, albeit somewhat bitter and emotionally drained.

Still, if I had to do it all over, I wouldn't have offered any such help, because I'm fairly certain that without it, she would have quit very early on. Hell, I probably would have just flat out forbid it.

Even though it went about as well as a girl can hope for - financially speaking - she took a lot of lumps along the way and frankly, my wife has never quite been the same - now far too jaded to enjoy many of the simpler things in life that used to make her happy.

As far as I'm concerned, true "success" in this biz is a farce. No matter how much you gain from it, you end up losing just as much.

Good luck with your friend.

It's late, but I have been in this situation and I gave her the contact of the head of an excellent agency.  Why?  The agency handles advertising and screens very carefully.  The agency provides a safe place for incalls and has its escorts check in after the client arrives. The agency provides some instant credibility in attracting clients, based on its reputation, even before there are reviews. The agency offers at least some "training" in its standards for its escorts. She may want to go independent after learning and building a base of reviews -- one very popular escort formerly associated with this agency has done so with no hard feelings -- but I feel strongly that it would be foolish for her to start as an independent and compete with the BP/CL crowd when she deserves a better clientele.
