if 2 providers both have 20 reviews. one has a looks rating of 9.75. the other has 9.7. How many reviews of 10 will the 9.7 lady need to pass provider 9.75. This is of course Ms. 9.75 has no other reviews in the meantime.

I know which two ladies you're talking about, and of course who your alias is.

If she gets 3 more 10/10 ratings, she'll be tied for 9.75/10.
But since she has more reviews, I think she'll bump the 9.75/10 who has 20 reviews.

The 3rd or 4th review with 10/10 will be an immediate surpassing.

Lets do the math...

Girl 1: Average of 9.70
Total Reviews: 20

Sum total  = 9.70 * 20 = 194

Girl 2: Average of 9.75
Total Reviews: 20

Sum Total  = 9.75 * 20 = 195

Now Take Girl 1 and give her a 10.  Her total is 204. That would give her avg of 204/21 = 9.71

Lets do it one more time:  204 + 10 = 214. That would give her avg of 214/22 = 9.72

Lets do it one more time: 214 + 10 = 224. That would give her avg of 224/23 = 9.73

Lets do it one more time 224 + 10 = 234  That would give her avg of 234/24 = 9.75

So 4 more reviews

Now, what I'd really like to know is who can tell the difference in a 9.7 and a 9.75 or who gives a flying fuck.  Your 10 is my 6.  Remember, you're talking looks.  I'm more interested in performance ratings.  Why buy a Lamborghini if it performs like a Yugo?

Smart guy here.

(10x+194) / (20+x) = 9.75

Multiply both sides by (20+x)
(10x+194) = 195+9.75x

Isolate x.
0.25x = 1
1/0.25 = x
x = 4
So 4 reviews of 10/10 to match 9.75, which will bump the lady who has 9.75/10 with 20 reviews.

Set the 9.75 to any number you want to see how many perfect reviews it will take to get there..
Let's do 9.95 for fun.

(10x+194)/(20+x) = 9.95
(10x+194) = 199+9.95x
0.05x = 5
x = 100

So if she gets 100 more 10/10 reviews, she'll be at a 9.95 looks and 10 performance.
This is assuming there are absolutely no 9s.

7 x 10 = 70
194 + 70 = 264
264/27 = 9.78

There is no mention of performance rating in the original question. So, you either have to "assume" one lady has a looks rating of 9.75. And the other lady has a looks rating of 9.7

or, you "assume" one lady has a looks rating of 9.7 and the other lady has an overall (looks AND performance) rating of 9.75

But, without even attempting any math, no matter how you slice it--it's not gonna take another one hundred "10" reviews for 9.7 lady to exceed 9.75 lady.

I made an example that it will take 100 "10" reviews to have a 9.95, assuming 10/10s and nothing else.

It's simply four 10/10s to pass the current 9.75/10 with 20 reviews in ranking.
Or five if you want to exceed the looks rating (will become 9.76)

Not seven like the guy above said.

9.7 what? looks? performance? both combined?

The question itself prohibits an accurate answer. But, given how the question was presented the more logical assumption would be to assume the avg's were based on looks. Not looks and performance. [ "10's not "10/10's"]

Regardless. It doesn't really matter. Using simple common sense I can tell you that a provider with a 9.7 avg score will not need ONE HUNDRED additional "10" (or one hundred additional "10/10") reviews to exceed a provider with a 9.75 avg score.
