Everybody handed the trophy to the Canes before the game was even played. Three years ago everyone handed the trophy to Seminoles before the game was played. In a one-game, winner takes all, anything can happen. So lets not anoint the Sooners just yet.

USC 33 - UCLA 2 at the half!  Next week Oregon State and then the Okies and the National Championship!

I'm going to New Orleans and of course will sample some of the ladies down there!  (Had to get a little "On Topic" stuff in here!

..and not a whole lot here for me. Actually, my appointment tonight, a South Florida lass, cancelled because she is having too great a time partying in the Quarter.

C'est la vie.

because the BCS could still screw SC out of the title game if LSU wins out its schedule.  Oregon State's loss today will weaken SC's strength of schedule rating.  Moreover, if Washington St. loses today, then SC is really screwed.  LSU still has to play Arkansas (7-3) and Georgia (who will likely go into the top 5 this week).  If LSU wins out, they may be able to leapfrog over SC.

is that they will get no quality points or increase in SOS for playing Georgia, since they've already played them this year.

The BCS formula is bogus!  This is the group that had Ohio State #2 and they won three game without a offensive point scored!  Both national polls had USC #2 and OSU at #4.  What we really need is a playoff system!

The only way USC doesn't play for the title will be because of eastern prejudice.

As far as "Boomer Sooner" is concerned, the USC defense will I believe prevail and Norm Chow will execute a gameplan that will have the Okie defense backs looking like spastics!

Fight On!

the BCS formula is bogus.  USc is #2

But my Sooners are having one of those years.  No one has really been close and USC somehow managed to lose to Cal, those dirty golden bears.

OU has more speed than you can hake a stick out through the entire defense.  The only problems they have had at all is with good running quarterbacks so unless your guy can run like the wind, I would think about next year.

Sorry, but the Trojans will be humiliated by the Sooners. It's just the Okies year.

As a long-time USC fan I was a very happy camper yesterday (last night wasn't bad either, but that would be more "on topic" LOL)

But I'd never start counting chickens until the eggs have hatched, even if the Trojans spank the Beavers.  I've spent a lot of mental energy the past couple of weeks trying to determine what criteria might goes into the equation for some of these indivual computer services & I've come to the conclusion that logic is non-existent with them.  USC had fallen in the BCS standings from 2 to 3 basically because 4 services dropped them either 1 or 2 places the prvevious week.  OhioSt leap-frogged them in one service...I didn't agree, but it was at least understandable.  The other 3 services jumped Texas (2 losses..won by 2 points & gave up 40 to a so-so team) & Florida (3 losses..beat a mediocre team).  Other than the BCS being absolute b/s in it's current incarnation...what gives?  Hell, I event heard one commentator mention a possible scenario that would have Texas playing Okla again in the Sugar Bowl.  I wonder how much the Sooners would be favored in Las Vegas for that game--21 points, maybe more?

Personally I think the Sooners are the best team in the NCAA & will probably beat anyone, Trojans included, & beat them soundly.  But I feel USC is the second best team & by all rights should get the opportunity to try to pull off an upset.

Oklahoma,
Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
(And the wavin' wheat
Can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain)
Oklahoma!
Every night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk
And watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land,
And the land we belong to is grand.
And when we say;
Ee-ee-ow! A-yip-i-o-ee-ay!
We're only sayin',
You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!
Oklahoma, O.K.!

I will also point out that not all the USC teams fared as well this week.

For those who prefer basketball, the USC women started their season with a brawl at New Mexico and came up short in front of a very vocal (if less than full house) 12,000 UNM fans.

Us non-CA folks love it when we get a measure of revenge for the little folk (and states) of the world.  ;)

If, for some reason, Marty Schottenheimer got in an accident on the way to the game, and wasn't able to coach, the Chargers would definitely prevail.  But as long as Marty was coaching, the Sooners would have a legitimate chance.
