Never underestimate the ability of a hotel to do something stupid! I too have had bills with no unpaid balance mailed to me. Fortunately I have a PO box as my business address and I travel a lot for work so, when I was married, I always had a good cover.
From then on, I've always given out my business address if ever asked.
I don't think any hotel has mailed out a statement before or since.
I should mention that to add some salt to the wounds, they included a list of phone calls with the number called, (This was before the cell phone era.) which was the provider's home number. My wife called her to say hi.
I've gotten rooms at Hampton Inns before, and they send Thanks For Staying postcards. Thankfully I lived alone at my apartment back then, so no one saw it. It's been years since I stayed at one, so I'm not sure if they still send those out. I've warned my clients about this. I've stayed at many different hotels, and this is the only one who ever sent mail to me afterwards.
