17 WOMEN ARRESTED IN VICE SWEEP

In a continuing crackdown on prostitution, Boston police arrested 17 women in Chinatown and surrounding neighborhoods over the weekend. Officers posing as customers arrested the suspects, who will be arraigned today in the Boston Municipal Court. Over the last 10+ years all of the LE activity in Boston has been against girls (and customers) on the streets. Also from time to time, they bust massage places, but that does not seem to be happening currently. I am not aware of any action against girls that book by phone or email, except possibly in conjunction with some other crime that the police could not ignore.

The reason they do sweeps on the street is there is a lot of political pressure from Chinatown, which is adjacent to what is left of the old Combat Zone. Chinatown, which is partially residential, doe not like to see girls on the streets. However, a quick scan of the reviews here will convince you that there are lots of quality providers and that many of the agencies have operated openly for years.
