TOFTTing - What proportion should we be the sacrificial lamb

and that was with a gal very new to the biz who started to post a bit on TER, and I started to PM with her quite a bit.

She had no reviews when I committed to see her, but subsequently one very positive review came in.  I was her second review.  She was excellent too.

I need to have a very good feel about a gal before I'll go and have a session with her.

Kind of an informal survey here about how much people TOFTT.

I first started in all this about two year ago, on the gentle bodyrub side of things. MY first month I jumpd right in, making appointments with 5 bodyrub providers - all from DC Backpage, and none of whom had TER reviews.  Maybe I broke a record - all 5 were very attractive, killer bods, sensuous, fun and nice.  I still see four of them from time to time, two them fairly regularly, some in graduated service.

So that set up MY false security!!!  My experiences after that with unreviewed providers, both of bodyrubs and beyond, has not been quite so elegant. After my first 5 mentioned above, I have seen about two dozen providers.  By my count, about 8 of those have been unreviewed - and these I either submitted a review or am in the proces of doing so, a couple are very recent.

Of my 8 TOFTTs, I have not been totally ripped off ever, but 2 were really bad, 2 were pretty good, and the 4 others less than spectacular.

So my first question - not counting that first round, one-third of the providers I have seen have been TOFTTing (I mean, somebody's got to do it, right?).  So am I bold, stupid (be gentle, please), or is this on par with what others do?  Really, we do have to do some or there wouldn't be any new girls reviewed!

My second question is, have my experiences as to goo/bad/not so good been on par, or have I just not learned the principles of really good TOFTTing yet?  My experiences after that first successful (bodyrub) round, especially with escorts, are discouraging me from ever seeing any unreviewed ladies again, but I do feel a sense of obligation (ok, and a weird sense of excitement) in taking the chance once in a while.  Have others figured out the right research and questions to ask to assure your TOFTTing is a successful experience?

Thanks, all, and like I say, please be gentle!

A little bold maybe, but I would lean more toward adventurous.  Personally I have never TOFTT and never will.  As of right now there is a cute CV girl I'm interested in, but I'll be damned if I'm the first one to dip my toe in the pool.  I want a sure thing (or as close as I can get to it in this game)

it is for the experienced and adventuresome only.  I prefer going with well-reviewed escorts and, if not, with girls from agencies I know are reliable.  I've done that a few times.  The girls had not been reviewed but they were not exactly first-time-on-Backpage girls either.  So I guess you could say I semi-TOFTT, at best.
My guess is that most guys who TOFFT aren't doing it for altruistic reasons but because they love the thrill of the hunt and of finding some great, new, previously-unknown pussy.  Bless them.

Yep somebody's gotta do it, or new girls would never get reviewed. I think in your first five you were definitely lucky! But that might have been a good thing, because it made you keep doing it. If you had 5 bad experiences you probably would have quit tofft, or more likely quit hobbying altogether. LOL. While there are no real statistics, and you could have stopped at the first five and say you had 100% good results while tofft, I will take a wild guess and say your more recent experiences are probably more the norm. (25% great, 25% bad, 50% so-so) It does take a certain type of person to do it. Some guys will never tofft and that is fine of course. You have to be comfortable in how you play in this hobby. We are all lucky (hobbyists and providers) that some guys are willing to do it. Some are adventurous. Some are risk takers. Some are dumb. Some only think with the little head. Some just want to discover that new gem. There are ways to minimize risk while still taking one for the team. Research. There are other review sites besides TER. You can google phone numbers, email addresses, etc. You can use tineye and google image search to check for stolen pictures. Some of these research methods may raise red flags right away.
Also location. Incall vs outcall. Incall in a motel with doors to the outside (good places for le stings) hotel rooms with adjoining doors (another good le tactic). You will never remove all risk in this hobby, and that goes especially for tofft, but the best you can do is to play smart, and manage and minimize your risks.  I think we all appreciate guys who do tofft. And for those of us who have been in the hobby for a while (pre internet) all of our early encounters were tofft:)

When I 1st started to hobby, I saw a few providers who didn't have reviews here on TER, but other places. I have out right toftt with providers who didn't have reviews anywhere four times. Out of the four, only one was is still worth seeing.

I hobby a lot different now from when I 1st started in the spring of 2010. If you look at me reviews I was like a kid in a candy shop, and wanted to taste every flavor they had. I've now found the three flavors I enjoy, and I stick to those. I do like try something new every once in while, but the provider is always well reviewed.

I don't knock guys who enjoy the adventure the of toftt, but I personally have lost interest in it.

But on the other hand, everytime you go to visit a provider you've never personally met before there is always some toftt involved

If they're on p411 and/or rs2k but no TER reviews?  If so, I've done several.

I also did one that had no reviews as far as I knew, but I didn't know reviews existed.  My 1st, my BP red roof inn trafficked Asian lady with the spy laptop video camera on.  *sigh* such sweet memories.

Special Beyond the norm and the LE radar is tuned in, then Taking One For The Team is indicated, but if she's just another suck and Fuck special, wait for the Intel.

LOL @ your "sweet memories." I remember your story.

As far as taking one for the team, did you write reviews? It might only be considered tofft if you report back to "the team." Of course that statement negates the statement I made in my post that all the old timers were tofft pre internet. We were definitely seeing strangers with no clue as to what would happen, but I guess if we never reported back to "the team" about the experience, then it wasn't tofft. :)  Maybe it was just GITU (going into the unknown)

In the old days you did your research by getting the location of the henhouse and getting buzzed in, then checking out who was there.  After a while, you'd have about five good places from which to pick.  I'd go to one and if I didn't see someone I liked, I trot across the street and see what was "in the window."  If need be, I could get in my car and head downtown from the East 50s of Manhattan to the East 30s and do the same thing.  I always found something nice.  Well, almost always.

I didn't know about TER or reviews then.  Pretty ballsy by my standards today.  Ah youthful ignorance.

You and I actually had this discussion before nick, a few months back. I agreed then and now, that in your case or cases like that (at least after your first couple of visits) you weren't totally tofft, or "gitu," because you get the feeling of what was available in your "henhouses." In my case I didn't have in my area (or didn't know about) henhouses. My beginnnings were SWs, yellow page ads, and classified ads in the underground newspapers. Totally "gitu." lol., Still totally different experiences for both of us "pre TER" :)
