Is it a coincidence that the word "politics" comes from the Latin roots with "poli" meaning many and "tics" meaning blood sucking insects?

I believe that the word 'politics' comes from the word 'policy', but I'm not sure.  However, I think your definition is more to the point.

I don't know for sure about the "poli" part , but the blood sucking insect part is real plausible.
