I'm pretty sure I'd be more than a little concerned. You may want to confront him, and ask, "Who the hell are you, and how do you know who I am"? Check to see if he has any reviews. Maybe you can make a connection there. Handle with care!!!!!
The first question that comes to my mind is, why is it he feels the need to tell you he knows who you are? I would try to get this question answered first, by trying not to act defensively. Perhaps expressing surprise and curiosity, and/or intrigue. This is not done to escalate or inflame a potentially dangerous situation, but rather to get as much information as possible, in order to fully assess for danger.
of the way the post is written, and a provider's reviews would link to a website with contact information. If you are a hobbyist, then I assume again that the person who sent you the PM somehow indicated that he knows your true identity. Several suggestions:
First, PM him back and ask him WTF he means, and what is he going to do about it. He could be yanking your chain, so you should ask him if he can PM some sort of proof.
Second, take a look back through your posts and try to see if there is any inadvertent information that would clue someone who already knows you into your identity. If not, then take a look at your reviews. I doubt there is anything in the reviews, but you never know. You may very well want to self delete your posts and have your reviews removed by admin if it seems like this is going further.
Finally, if you perceive the PM to be a threat to extort or out you, then forward the PM to Admin with a question as to TER policies regarding threatening PM's.
Whatever you do, you should be extremely careful about the kind of personal information you put out there. Despite the way my handle looks, it has nothing to do with my real name, and I try not to put anything but general information out there.
If you are a hobbyist, then he has stepped way out of bounds with the "I know who you are." comment. It's downright creepy and probably a lie as well because if he really knew, he would have addressed you by that name.
I think that stoney silence is in order and I would even consider contacting TER management to have a little talk with this member about "ettiquette", so to speak.
Now, if you are a provider, the comment is a little more unclear. By saying that he knows who you are, he may only be saying that he is familiar with your reputation as a provider, which is benign but also so obvious as to not need to be said.
In this case, I would respond, thank him for the compliment and inquire as to his ambiguous comment to see what he means by it. It is possible that you share a common friend and that friend has volunteered some information about you, in which case you should learn about that fact and speak to the friend about it.
I suppose it could mean any number of other things as well. The hobbyist certainly doesn't help his stature by making comments that are not only amibiguous but somewhat disconcerting.
I feel as if it is tasteless to do that. I mean, it is a matter of remaining discreet. If I see someone and know who they are in this forum or anyplace out of the ordinary, then I did not see them UNLESS I want to get together with them. I mean, why make it known if you are not going to attempt to possible black mail or something? lol (It happens unfortunately)
Early in my membership on this site I saw a hobbyist on here that I met in the past and I sent a PM and just said hi and told him who I was. I met him while I was a member of a swinger/sex site and his handle was the same as on the other site. All I said was hi, and he never responded. I have seen him since at a party and we chatted a little but he is obviously not interested in securing me as a companion and I am fine with that. He is a very nice man and I am sure he is not threatened that I know who he is anymore than I feel threatened that he knows who I am. lol we are even.
Having said that, I think all in all, it would be tacky for a hobbyist to let a companion know he knows who she is UNLESS he wants to see her and needs her to not be shocked later.
In this business I think the ladies should be prepared for that question.
I have had friends from high school write to me as well as some of my daughters friends fathers.
Years ago my family found out what I was doing because my cousin was looking for an escort. He was an ass and told them all, but I always am concerned for that.
For me..not a problem. It really is expected that someone will recognize you.
