The 'diversity is our greatest asset' statement is so stupid. I think Freedom is a little more important. George used a legacy program to get into Yale U. This is a non-merit program and I just can't respect someone who used a program like that and then criticized other for the same thing. It is unfair to blame a president for the condition of the ecomomy. America is going down the shitter and this process began long before "Dubbya" took office. It wouldn't matter if Gore got in either, it would still be happening. Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan, since he took over in 1987, has been the most inflationary chairman in history, creating an estimated $10 trillion out of thin air... a greater monetary expansion than all other Fed chairmen combined, and they will keep the printing presses rolling at the rate of $2 trillion per year. This isn't Bush's fault, and I hear no one calling Greenspan a "moron" or calling for his head.
There needs to be some type of competency test for voting. People who have no clue of the functions of government, its three branches and their limitations/powers, are voting for candidates based on popularity, appeal, attractiveness, or just because they are of a particular party. Arnold may well win if the recall goes through, simply because people know who he is.
Federal Govt. spending now accounts for over 40%of the GDP; up 25% since last year. Defense spending isup 44% (for obvious reasons) The economy is not recovering....take out defense spending and there is virtuallyno growth at all. More and more jobs are being lost, personal bankruptcies are at all time highs, industrial production is down, auto sales are down, airlines are most all near bankrupt, personal debt is at its highest while saving at its lowest, the housing market bubble will eventually burst, and states are broke, with "Colliefornya" $40 billion in the red.
Not a rosy picture for the future. No president can fix it, and certainly no liberal Democrat.

The economic bubble started bursting in early 2000, 10 months before the election. It wasn't Clinton's fault - but he couldn't take credit for the previous good years either. Businessmen control the economy. Not presidents. Bush hasn't laid any workers off or been slow to rehire any of the millions of experienced professionals currently out of work.
Jaejae, maybe you haven't been reading the papers but Bush has cut taxes which normall stimulates the economy - other than that he's been rather busy tracking down the people who would like to crash planes into big buildings. Thank goodness he was in office and not some Democrat - they would have surrendered.

This whole "left wing media bias" thing is anacronistic. With talk radio and Fox News bloating the airwaves with emotional appeals to an audience that is easy to rile up, playing to fear and anger (and very effectively, I might add), I keep wondering what a thoughtful person is to do.
Case in point: Bill O'Reilly on his national talk radio show during domestic protests before George pulled the trigger on Iraq, said that he thought people who protested after the war begins should be charged with a felony as they would "prevent the police from keeping NY safe from terriorists."
Now, my conservative friends, I must tell you I deeply opposed the Iraq war because I think we must establish a global consensus on the basics. Afganistan was the model, and we could have achieved this - oops, except Irag may really have already gotten rid of its WMD - with Iraq. We're too interconnected in too many ways not to think globally, and we cannot unilatterally obliterate all the bad guys with terrifying weaponry.
