dumbest reason to have to cancel an appointment

I had set up some time with a favorite on a Tuesday morning.  On the Monday, I was called for jury duty.  Normally, you sit around for a few hours and get sent home. This time, I got chosen.  I couldn't quite get myself to tell the judge I couldn't be a juror because I had a date with a provider the next day.  So had to cancel.  At least it didn't turn out to be a prostitution case.

You watch tv and you always see people trying to duck jury duty.
So you kinda get the idea.... Naw I'm not gonna do it. If it ever
Comes up I'm gonna get out of it.

Now thinking as a black man, This is one of the reasons the system
Is so jacked. If I or some of my like minded people actually did jury duty
I wonder if we could get some real justice.
So +1 to you dude. Maybe your case can be the one were the
Guilty person actually get what's do to them.

Got to stop being sheep. If I get called for jury duty I'm all in :)

You never know if being on the jury will get you out faster than not being on the jury.

For example, the first time I got called, people told me to stay on the far side of the waiting room and you'll probably be sent home by noon when they stop seating juries, so that's what I did.

The problem was that as I was waiting around reading the same newspaper over and over, I saw people out the window who were in the jury room walking out the courthouse door at around 9:30 AM.

Someone told me that what happens is that after the jury is seated, and the defendant sees that the cop is there to testify against him (These were almost all drug dealing cases.) the defendant cops a plea and the jury is sent home.

I ended up waiting till noon.

It would be just my luck if I did get seated to be on a case that lasted over a day.

But I agree, it's a civic duty and we should be glad we have a system as democratic as this one unlike countries where the court is all stacked against you from the start.
