The human penis is not allowed to be shown in Japanese media; nor is public hair allowed to be shown.  

Also, the average married couple in the U.S. has sex once per week.  Conversely, in Japan, the average married couple has sex once per month.

They are just as weird over there, as we are weird over here.

amongst others, or sex as a whole. What I have notice in Japanese porn, is they are into some KINKY shit. In fact, I can seem to find more Japanese porn that relates to what would be kink to most of us, than what we would consider mainstream.  

Also, I don't believe in polls or surveys, they are always scewed. Show me one that says one thing, and I'll show you one that contradicts it. Once per week for married couples in the USA? If they are surveying newlyweds, maybe. But ask the married guys on this board what happens after the honeymoon stage. Complacency, disinterest, and a dry dick.

Imho,getting laid in the Orient and Far East Asia,was alot less complicated than it is in the USA.
It could just be the fact that i was a sailor.I know one thing,it was alot cheaper(getting laid that is.)

Somehow, someone (probably caucasian) got the idea that "oriental" was demeaning and that we should use the term "asian" instead. Probably the same douche bag that decided "black" was demeaning and that "African American" was a less devisive word. What a bunch of crap. how many black people do you know that have ever been to Africa, much less have emmigrated from there?

IMO anyone born in Africa and emmigrated here is African American. The same with Asian people. I was not born in Asia, I am not "Asian American", I am simply an American with slanty eyes, whose ancestors came from China. lol

BTW I love oriental and asian women too. lmao

...back in like 6th grade, that "oriental" referred to objects (i.e. an oriental rug), and "asian" referred to people. so to refer to someone as "oriental" was to objectify them. yes, that was something actually taught in school..lol. however having many asian friends now and over the years, most wish to be known by their (family's) specific country of origin. maybe i just know some really uptight asians, lol.

Oriente is the Spanish word for East, just as negro is the Spanish word for black. Nothing insidious here, just language.

my early grade school years were in a southern hicksville, the total asian population was exactly 4 (including parents). so anything we were ever taught about race or culture had to be taken with a grain of salt.

for myself, i like black american. like LIP said, there are just a few too many syllables in african-american for it to flow naturally from the tongue. but i am definitely black first, american second.

You are either American or you are not. Since my family came from Wales and Ireland eons ago I am Irish/Welsh American? BS. Taking your line of thinking I am White American. If I proclaim that in public I would be called a racist. But Black American is PC. More BS. Time to drop the race distinctions and be one people or we will lose our freedom to have this type of communication.

and in everything that makes us who we are...ethnicity and culture are a part of that. the "melting pot" mentality makes me sick...what makes america a better country than most is the fact that we are so diverse. we should embrace and celebrate our differences, not attempt to turn into one big gray meaningless mass of nothing. i find immense beauty in every shade of skin, every texture of hair, every culture and its individual history. they are all worth holding onto...to not do so is to shame one's ancestors, and doom one's future. so be proud of being a white american, as i am proud to be a black american, and rejoice in the things that make us different as much as the things we share in common.

Who would call you racist?  I don't know of too many in the public that I was around that would proclaim you as racist.  If you are white it is obvious you are white.  If you are American what would be wrong with you saying you are White American?  Might be odd...heck I don't say I'm African American...I'm Black and proud to say Black.  

And yes, I have been to Africa and they look at us as rich, lazy Americans (all Americans are lazy to them) who don't appreciate what we have.

I am with Lilli in that I am Black first and an American second.

And I have even heard from an important leader in this nation (Al Sharpton ?spelling?) that only white people could be racist. Unlike many other races it is not PC for white people to be proud of there heritage. Thus if I as a white man said that I am a "White American" some would conclude that I am some how putting down some other race as I am showing that I am proud of mine. In this PC world Caucasians have to be more careful on what we say or risk offending someone. Now with all that PC crap is out in the air I am still proud to be white and I hope everyone is proud to be what they are as a race. I am an American first though and always will be.

I totally agree scoed. The melting pot is what made this country great. A melding of cultures, ideas, talent and a desire to work together to make this country great. It was not a me society. We have become a me society and are suffering because of it. That is what a lot of others countries hate about  us. They used to envy our work effort. Now they laugh at our legal mess and so many peoples sense of entittlement. No one is entittled to anything. What made this country great was putting differences aside. I am an american first and white second. That is why we were great. Not Black , white yellow, brown or red first.

You've been told by more than one person...and you used Al Sharpton as your sample size as well?  There are millions of Blacks in this country and I don't think the vast majority would have a problem with you saying White American.  

I am black and I can ASSURE you that we don't consider Al Sharpton a spokesman for the black community.  He has improved on many issues, but he and Jessie Jackson are not spokespeople for the masses.

I did not say that a vast majority of any group other that the PC crowd had a problem with me saying that I am a White American. I just stated the PC police wouldn't like it and for the most part they don't speak for anyone with a brain. I am well aware that Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson only speak for a vocal minority off blacks (and whites) on many issues but that minority dominates the media. I only meant to imply Al Shapton and company speaks for the PC police which loves to blame white people for all the worlds problems. I think it is funny and very sad how some in the PC crowd try to end racism by spouting racist comments about whites. I did not mean to offend anyone  or imply anything about any race in this post or my other post. If you or anyone else was offended some how, it was not intended and I am sorry. Now lets get back to the main point of the thread on how kinky some Japanese commercials are. I found the Japanese commercial in the OP very funny.

African-American has too many sylables to be used commonly in the average persons lexicon, and it IS technically incorrect as you pointed out.

Though usually, I don't refer to someone's race anyway when speaking to them or about them, there's rarely a need for that.

I don't refer to myself as an Irish american, nor do my old country grandparents. No one else does either, they just call me "that obnoxious mick." I can live with that. Top o' da mornin' to ya.

Calling an Asian women "Oriental" is similar to calling a Black person "Negro."

Plus, "Oriental" (by defintion) does refer exclusively to objects, like rugs, which is why people take offense to the phrase "Oriental women."

Personally, I exclusively identify as ASIAN, ASIAN AMERICAN, EURASIAN, OR BIRACIAL.

I am NOT Oriental, and I get upset when people call me that.

I always thought the proper use of "Oriental" was limited to referencing the geographical eastern section of Asia when speakimg of the anthropological origin of thimgs such as language groups. The opposite of the word Occidental which means of the west. Academically speaking.....

When and how did it become a racially provocative slur?

I don't mind for a moment if people refer to me as oriental. I get enough "real" insults hurled at me on a daily basis to get worked up over something as benign as Oriental vs Asian.

It's a lot of ado over nothing IMO. The same as Black vs African American. People who get upset over perceived slights should really save their energy over real ones. It's not like we have any shortage of real bigotry to get outraged about.

"Oriental only applies to objects, and not people". That has got to be one of the stupidest ideas I have ever heard. It's too stupid for me to even find it offensive. What I do find offensive is the fact that "asians", and we do have a reputation for being smart, actually buy into this politically correct bullshit.

Asian, oriental, Chinese, who really gives a fuck? Call me what you want, as long as it's without malice, I don't fucking care what the "label of the day" is. I am sorely tempted to move this thread to the P&R board, where I could tell the PC bunch how I really feel, without having to moderate myself afterwards.

I have an awful lot of middle-aged friends of Irish descent that are now "on the wagon" after spending their youth like the guys in the picture.  It must be in the genes, but it sure makes it hard to remember who I can offer a beer and who gets a Coke when they visit.

And back to the topic, I guess even white guys can get tangled up in PC bullshit and take this ethnic group identity to its extremes, because one of my buddies told me he was a "Celtic American" (not Irish).  OK, whatever.  You were a lot more fun when you drank!

Actually, Oriental is rugs and food.  When referring to Asian people, they should be called Asians.  That's pretty much the PC standard these days, I work in Asian Marketing/Advertising, and we would NEVER call Asians "oriental".  It's like calling African Americans "colored".  Same derogatory intent.  And by the way, "black" is NOT demeaning for African Americans, it is acceptable in my circles.
