This is a serious question, how do you feel about the chance of getting something?  Is it something you consider or do you feel there's little chance? It's an important topic and I'd like to hear your ideas on it.  Thanks!

Risk of HIV is very low through BBBJ... so for the most part it's safe from HIV.

HPV (gardicil) and there are other recent ones. Cost me arm and a leg but worth it.

HEP C (possibly coming from GILD)?  

BTW, realistically, who cares about the bacterial STD?  I've only ever had NGU before but all these bacterial STDs are CUREable.

I'm an RN, but I also have done additional research on stds and spoken with every Doctor or NP who has done std testing for me.  As should we all.

The information is easy to find online.  There is not much risk in our GFE behavior.  I think most people know this and that's why it's so widely participated in.

The biggest concerns would be herpes and gonorrhea.

There is a slim chance of getting gonorrhea in the throat.  But, from what I've read and heard, it won't be spread from there, because it will be weak.  So, if someone has gonorrhea in the throat, they will probably not spread it through kissing, daty, or bbbj.  If someone has gonnorhea in there cock or vagina, then it could be contracted in the throat from daty or bbbj.  In fact, what I've read, is that you CAN'T catch it from someone else's mouth, but if it can live there, it seems like there could be a slim possibility.

The reason is gonorrhea thrives in the more acidic environment of the vagina or urethra.  But, it can also survive in the throat and rectum.  But it doesn't do well there.  It will often disappear on it's own without the use of antibiotics because of that reason.

When it comes to the scary blood borne pathogens, HIV and Hep C (there's a cure now for HepC?), from what I've heard and read, you'd have to have such a big wound in your mouth to contract it through oral sex that you wouldn't be having sex, more than likely.

The other stds can't live in the throat and ass.

Always look carefully for any sores that might look like a new pimple or a small blister.  This could be herpes.

Now, that's what I've heard and read.  If you have a significant other, just be extra careful.  

 I mean, if you have a sore throat after an interaction, take some antibiotics.  For those of you without insurance, did you know that you can buy amoxicillin for fish aquariums?  You can get 100 of them for 20$!  It's the EXACT same medication and dosage as what humans require.  But, don't take antibiotics for a cold.  Everyone knows that.

You couldn't even spell Gardasil correctly, and you had this substance injected into your body. I think your medical opinion should be the void of everyone. You also ignored the fact that Gardasil is marketed toward adolescent teens, and young adults up to the age of 26. Are you telling me that you received this vaccine past the age of 26? Which goes against the FDA guideline, which you are in support of per this thread.

I'm not saying vaccinations work or do not work, I'm just saying no one should take your advice on anything, and I highly doubt if anyone does.

You are are blissfully displaying your ignorance with this thread. You have already been exposed to HPV, the vaccine is usless on older people. Sexually active people of a certain age have already been exposed to HPV.

Vaccines do not safegaurd against previous exposures.

...it is one of the lower risk activities that exist on the sexual activity spectrum.  Read scientific papers on the subject. Compared to unprotected vaginal and anal sex, the risk of exposure and contraction are incredibly low.  

Being vaccinated for Hep A and B is always a great preventative measure too.  

Getting tested regularly helps reduce exposure risk for everyone; knowing your status is a powerful thing.  

and just a little food for thought: the partner being penetrated is at greater risk for contraction and exposure than the partner doing the penetrating when  it comes to oral, vaginal, and anal sex.
