It's not stealing!

Farrah, I do not condone what the OP did or what he didn't do to remedy the situation. My objection is toward your statement, "you basically stole from her". To me, stealing is the action of taking someone's property, without their knowledge and consent. Therefore, not to give someone the correct amount owed or to withhold it from them by design, by choice, by ignorance or even if forgiven as a debt, IS NOT THE SAME AS STEALING; i.e, shorting someone is not the same as stealing from someone.

Now the story as set forth by the OP as he described it, can range anywhere from a totally innocent mistake/misunderstanding to complete and blatant BS! However, if I owe you 600 and I only pay you 300 (arbitrary numbers), I have not stolen 300 from you. I merely owe you 300 and if the matter is brought to my attention and I still wish not to remedy the situation, then you can say that I am withholding your funds which is a form of debt.

How would you like it if a debt collector constantly called you and told you that you were, "basically a thief", for not paying back a credit card company or a student loan, or a car loan? (a hypothetical Q and I'm not insinuating that you were or are in this situation) Now I do understand the the parallels are not exactly equivalent as 300 is lot more to a working individual, than say a financial institution, but if the same principles that you defined earlier are applicable, then probably more than 50% of the country is stealing from someone in some form or another, in this recession/depression!

Yep...I really did.  But did not realize it until recently.   A couple months ago I booked an hr with a blond bombshell touring DC . I thought her rates were a little on the high side , but she did have exceptional reviews and OMG , I loved the pics.   We had our appt...it was a great time.  I highly recommended her to others.   Well , she is returning to my city and I recived a PM from a trusted hobbyist who asked if she was really worth $$$$$$$$ an hr.  Wow..I thought...did she raise her rates by 3$$$....I checked her site and holy crap...She had a 1/2 hr rate of $$$$$...her hr rate was $$$$$$$$.....i had misread....plus , I'm pretty sure my time with her ended up being closer to 1 1/2 hrs.   I recall her emailing me after my session thanking me for a good time...great wine and thoughtful gift...what a classy lady.  I emailed her yesterday and apologized  if I had shorted her in the envelope...I mean I really do feel awful....her reply was exceptionally sweet...Basically , yes...I misread her rates...but not to worry...She enjoyed our time together and all is OK.   I share this for 2 reasons.  One...I am an advocate for ladies that count the $ in our presence....You can bet I counted it when my bank teller handed it to me....plus...there really are some classy and ...well...simply sweet ladies out there.  I'm not gonna mention the lady's name as I know some of you pooners would take advantage of her sweet spirit [lol]....but damn...what a cool  babe. We all make mistakes...I made a big one.  I was lucky it was with a classy individual.  ....OK...just needed to get this off my chest.

Ok, you feel bad for shorting her, understandable. Most of us don't wake up looking to screw people over. Shit happens, and she was more understanding about it than most would be.

But...do you feel bad enough that you are going to make a point of getting her the additional 3 bills? She said not to worry about it, but, uh, how many times have you heard a woman say "I'm fine" when she's not? Try picturing her face at the moment she opened that short envelope - do you think she just sighed and said, oh well, it's ok? Just curious.

I'm betting no or he would have done it by now. If he does, he'll be a hero for the moment, but it's doubtful she'll ever trust him again. Guys who short providers make them suspicious of us all. Was it an honest mistake? Perhaps, but I am also betting no.

and she is probably more than willing to take a $$$ loss and never see him again. I agree however that if the OP has any class, he will find a way to get the cash he shorted back to her.

My feeling is, there is more to this story than the OP is letting on.

Agreed. Having been asked "Can you pay me please" within 20 seconds of walking into the room (by a terrible provider), there's no problem at all with someone counting while I'm there - in fact I expect it and always surprised when girls don't. Mistakes do happen, and if the tables were turned I would definitely check.

You basically stole from her. I've been shorted twice and each time I knew it was an honest mistake. Both gentleman realized it without me having to say anything and went out of their way to bring it to me even though I said "Oh don't worry about it."

Even though you didn't do it on purpose, you should still give her the money that you owe her. 300$ is a lot of money to short someone as well, I'm surprised she was so nice about it.

If she'll see you again, make a date and leave the correct amount this time plus the $$$ you owe her.

Happened to me once.  Even more exaggerated.  Saw a regular.  We were enjoying each other at least once a week, sometimes two for a while.

I had taken her a gift and presented that upon entering and then we had a great time.  We kissed and said our goodby's and then I was almost home (60 miles away) when I realized I still had donation in my pocket.

Call her to apologize (profusely) - she hadn't even missed it (yet).  Anyway - took it to her the next day (and went extra for another cup).

She was a sweetie.  Miss ya Sue.

When I visit an incall, I place the envelope down - obviously - upon arrival, then ask if I might freshen up in the bathroom. When hosting an outcall, I place the envelope on the bathroom counter - when my companion arrives, I ask her if she'd like to use the bathroom to freshen up. This way, financials can be taken care of before we engage without a bank-teller scene.

I'm guessing that means it isn't worth $$$ to create drama with a guy with lots of reviews, etc.

Now, either way, she is the kind of lady I like to see. Not so that I can short her envelope, as it sounds like I wouldn't see her due to her high rates, but because I think these are the ladies that are professional and provide a better all around experience.

I would go out of my way to get it back to her. I had to cancel an appointment with Jules Gottroqs the day of our appointment. I offered to swing by and drop off the donation, but she waved me off. That raises her a few notches in my book.

...but that's only because she let it go on another 1/2 hour.

I'm gonna give her some sweet gifts next time I see her.

and actually leave with the donation.  To prevent this, I have the donation ready in advance & carry in my key pocket (varies with my clothing of the day).  I feel it when I reach for my keys.  I contemplated what I would do if I made such an error...  and made up my mind, I'd drive the return to set things right.
Of course, you should correct the shortage.

I think it really depends on the girl.

If you're a regular she will cut you some slack.

If it's your first, she'd probably be suspicious.  I know I would be.

with her to make it right before you get blacklisted all over the USA.

Pay her. One time I met a lady who had different rates on differnt sites. I gave her the higher amount. C'mon, none of here can can be cheap. We are all innovators and risk takers. Just pay her -- and then see her again, LOL

i hope that the cynical posts are meant tongue in cheek. i wouldn't believe that STP would intentionally short a lady for a moment. in limited dealings with him and by reputation he strikes me as among the more honorable of the triple digit reviewers. i can't see him doing something dishonest and manipulative, unlike some. at least that's my experience.

I don't believe anyone said he did it on purpose.

The point has been made, multiple times, that even though it may have been an oversight...he hasn't done jackshit to fix it.

THAT'S the issue. Don't whine like a bleeding bitch to a board about what you did...be a man and fix the shit in silence.

He's looking for someone to tell him it's all good simply because she said "don't worry about it".
WTF kind of man is that?
Answer?
The pussy kind.
LOL!

Now stop telling us how highly you think of him...and PM him to pull the tampon out and do what's right.

Just sayin'

that 3rd parties butting in telling folks how to conduct business between two consenting adults usually ineffective. i'd rather let two people having a difficulty work it out. but then i am not a WK like you at least on this thread, today. ;-)

i am very cranky today about clients intruding on client - provider dealings that are none of their business.

But paying her what you owe her would be even better...

Well...at least my post helped the flamers occupy their time.  A big thanks to all you suggested I'd make things right....Damn...I would never had thought about that!!

I believe it was a mistake in his counting. They were all new bills and difficult to count to begin with so I can see how this could happen.
I do not intend to say anything to him either but it sucks, even though it was an accident.
