Welcome to the club. I'm late 60's and it's much more difficult to control than even 5 years ago. Unfortunately I have take the O whenever I can, otherwise I may end up needing a HJ to cross the finish line (not my favorite by far).
Only suggestion is to stretch out the foreplay (kissing, massage, DATY, etc) as much as your time will allow, then go for the O without hesitation.
