The rates have gone from $$$ to $$$.5 and $$$$ for same providers who used to be at @ $$$. $$$ is my max and I will not see anyone charging higher.

There is a plethora of providers in and around the $300 range in Atlanta. The agencies are still the best bargains and frankly I see no need to exceed $400.
Prices have gone up, but frankly most of them are/were not in my visual range in the first place.

I disagree somewhat. Each hobbyists should pay for what he's comfortable with. Me personally I wouldn't see a lot of high priced providers because they're simply not worth it based on looks and my preferences. There are others that I would rush to see and feel like their higher rates are justified. To each his own. Generally speaking there are tons of options where great looks great service and reasonable prices can come together. If you feel some are overpriced just move on. Nine times out of ten you can always find someone hotter and friendlier for less money.

When I travel I can stay at the local Holiday Inn Express or at the local Ritz.  Now I don't really expect the Ritz at HIE prices.  Nor do I think either the HIE or the Ritz is going to roll back its prices to whatever 2 star hotels were charging in 1982.  So I guess I'm willing to deal with the reality of where we are now.  When I started hobbying gas was not $4.50 a gallon but it is now--why would I expect hobby prices to be any different?

My rates used to be $350 an hour then I had a client tell me that I was charging to little so I increased it to $400 an hour but now it appears that this rate is actually considered way to high, I'm not gonna change my rates again as its to confusing if one weeks its a certain price then it changes again, their wont be any consistancy, I just find it interesting that my rate is considered "high", I quite like these debates as it helps me really work out who my target market is what they deem to be reasonable etc.

When I got into the business 2 months ago a gentleman told me my rates were too low (300), so I raised them. Especially after I experienced all the cost involved in being in this business. Then I had gentleman tell me my rates were too high.

No one likes to pay more. Raise your rates and some guy who was planning to see you at 350 will undoubtedly get annoyed that he will now have to pay more.

I don't buy all that nonsense either, and I live well. I own my vehicle, only buy a new one every 5-7 years, and always 1-2 years old when I do. At 200 bucks per date, I would have to see 5 guys a week to even make the min. I need to get by, which is only a grand....that's not asking for much at all. I literally could get by on 1-2 clients per week, without being greedy asking for more.
