I am just curious. Has any provider been paid in bitcoin or had someone try to pay them in bitcoin?  Ive been amazed at the recent media attention on this non fiat currency.

Here is a recent article on it.

It just seems to me as some sort of house of cards or ponzi variant.  I've seen some discussion on shorting bitcoin or buying puts .  However without verifying the counter party, it seems like a situation where even if you are right on the value declining you lose since you can't get paid.

The only reason why supply is limited is because the "rules" say so.. Whoever made those rules.. Certainly Congress didn't vote on it..

I would much rather a girl accept donation in gold coins or silver coins. The supply is truly limited, and you know who made those rules? The Universe did... Mother Nature did...

Bitcoins have also started gaining notoriety for being used by terrorist organizations and child pornographers...

Also, to add..as the article alludes to, they are not truly a currency, but are certainly being used as one. I know for sure that in the United States, its illegal to have alternate currency that is not tied to the Dollar- a completely off the grid system if you will.... I know there are alternative currencies (Local Community Currencies, which are legal, but they are really tied directly to the Dollar..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_community_currencies_in_the_United_States)  So the question arises is what legal mess does one get into when dealing with "BitCoins"

Bitcoin is as much fiat as the USD. It's intrinsically worthless.

Either way, it's about to crash again, not because of the hackers who caused panic this time around, but as a response to the ASIC chips that are about to become common.
