I had an experience just days ago where a provider, who is reasonably well known for years and which I had seen several times, tried to get away with forging my name on checks. She must have picked them up when I wasn't looking as she's spent plenty of time around my house and knows the lay (pun not intended) of the land. Btw, it was not my donations as I always do those in cash. we are also on good terms, and I also always give a little extra, especially around holidays, so I know she was not sore at me for anything.
I'm not so concerned with the legal part here...Fortunately I have a bunch of bank alerts set up on my email and phone for such an occasion, so I must have caught the check transaction almost immediately. She had put in three checks and the bank credited the amounts back to me after they learned what had happened. btw, I'm not going to divulge her name because she is already in a lot of legal trouble for what she's done. Beside the fact she is a great (high scores) provider, I can't help feeling a little sorry for the trouble she's in, knowing that she has had family trouble and is over her head somehow. Doesnt' forgive what she's done but the current down economy can't be helping.

don't invite providers to their home unless there is level of trust developed. I am not sure how much trust there was between OP and the provider. Most people, if they were to do outcall, would do it at a hotel.
just saw this... yes, there was level of trust and no concern for the SO finding out, which i presume is another reason to do it at a hotel. 3/4 of the time i use an outcall hotel. it was just one of those times I happened to not.

A provider I know had a substance abuse problem, and she was busted for identity theft at one point. Same thing...she had an issue with drugs getting beyond recreational, and she had a habit to feed.

Which a lot of providers report their income on their return, if they do. If you show a negative number on your schedule C it is a red flag to the IRS.

Honestly....the gals here for the most part report some, if not most of their income. But just like any segment of society, there are those (and probably in similar percentages) that don't report most of what they actually earn.

I agree with you about society perhaps needing more jails for the egregious, profligate lawbreakers amongst us. But I would submit to you that a number of the providers here on TER are not just "getting over" on not declaring a few thousand $ here and there, but in the order of magnitude of $200K-$300K. And even while they draw on public assistance! The Fed went after Wesley Snipes, they ought to go after the "poor, little hooker girls" and track where all their money is going to/ending up via Green Dot and other debit cards! There's a lot of criminal activity going on behind the scenes beyond the mere P4P. And isn't one of the unspoken reasons for this board and our hobbyist community to partly police up the community and to get our act together? This includes our promoting safe sex, encouraging quality service and discouraging and reporting rip-offs, stealing, violence as well as human trafficking. Perhaps it ought to include encouraging payment of taxes and reporting of known, flagrant fraud. By not doing a better job of policing ourselves, prostitution will have slim chance of ever being legalized or even decriminalized as it will always be known as a community that attracts and harbors criminal activity and money laundering. Perhaps this is a bigger issue here of what comes first: the horse or the cart; being legalized and adhering to the law, or adhering to most laws and hoping that society will eventually accept and legalize it. But I definitely don't think that we will win the day or our argument for societal acceptance of prostitution by saying that just because corrupt politicians and Hollywood celebrities have and are getting away with tax evasion and other scams and fraud, that we as a "community" ought to justify or even condone such behavior. We, afterall, have the up hill struggle.

Early in my civie dating... I took a gal to my home. It never occured to me to hide my stuff. At somepoint during the visit, she went through my checkbook. No, she didn't take anything, but I found out later from others that she knew my bank balances... she viewed our relationship as a solution to her money problems.

Also? The notion that it wouldn't be appropriate to out a hobbyist who ripped off a provider here is complete nonsense. While that may be literally true it ignores the primary mission of the board. And, even more importantly, it ignores the fact that providers have provider only boards where they warn others about unacceptable client behavior and identify those clients (at least it is my understanding that those boards exist). If a hobbyist gets blacklisted there, does he even get the chance to respond? Does he even get informed of it? Could he even find out on his own?
Note: I'm not saying those boards should exist. Clearly they are needed and provide a level of safety for the ladies which improves the experience for all parties.

But here's the issue that might prevent this...we are getting one side of the story. I could come on here and say anything about anyone and out them for being a thief, an abusive ahole, the list goes on. And some people will do that if they didn't get their own way. It then ruins the reputation of someone who is not there to give the other side of the story or do damage control if it's a falsehood. You can't unring a bad bell..

Yes it's a review board and even those are sometimes utter bullshit. When you start accusing someone of theft, abusive behavior etc, it goes that one giant step further and can really cause trouble for someone if untrue.
