A word of caution re: Phillies and investing

There have been two (seemingly unrelated) threads here and on a local board: One requested investment advice, the second cheering on the Phillies.  BEWARE. I am a Phillies fan, but I remember the only Phillies World Series win in 1980 which was followed by one of the greatest drops in equity value and a marked recession.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.  (What the heck, it's only money, jobs, homes: Go Phillies!)

I went to rookie instructional league right out of high school in 1964....the year of the greatest collapse in major league history.  10 game lead with 12 games to go and they "blow it."

Joining that organization at that time was like attending a sex party and forgetting to bring your dick!

Go Phillies...I hope this rainy night didn't affect you too negatively.

The Brooklyn Dodgers disappointed us all year after year until they FINALLY won the series.  FINALLY! Then they moved to LA.
The Phillies finally look like they were on the verge of a World Series....then the last game gets rained out.
What will happen oif they finally win? A nuclear attack on Philadelphia?
