It just simply became too much of a hassle to use, the reason I stopped using it. Providers would post a series of hashtags with different cities, and completely clutter the search results. For example, when it was really bad, if I search NYC, 80+% of the results would be ladies currently NOT in NYC but with NYC in their post as hashtag.
Switter is closing down in March. This was an interesting site in its infancy and a laudable mission but gradually became a bit of a wasteland of spam and travelling providers more recently (at least for the New England region)
Nonetheless, their explanation of why is frightening (see link). Appears a new "chill" around sex work may be around the corner.
From a point of view of anonymity on the internet.
The platform itself did not catch on too much; although it had its good uses a lot of it was scams as well.
But the failure of switter on mastodon as an anonymous platform for sex workers is undeniably bad for this biz. Both for mongers and providers. Mastodon is an architectural marvel that probably should be talked about more than some random new crypto... but hey it doesn't make money out of thin air so there's no hype.
I spent a few weeks on Switter when all the FOSTA/SESTA crap hit the p4p fan, but it soon devolved into a morass of not-enough ass. Along with no reviews -- I saw no point to it.
As far as 'Appears a new "chill" around sex work may be around the corner,' the people who are anti-sex work have never taken time off. They're ALWAYS looking to cramp our style and it's the same regardless of party or political persuasion.
So I am saddened that it will be shut down. I had gotten off social media platforms like twitter, instagram, and Facebook and switter was my platform of choice. I decided to make a Twitter account as a backup platform. I liked switter because it seemed more utr for me. Popular social media platforms just didn't seem appealing to me after a while. I've never been popular on social media but I felt comfortable and accepted on switter and I always promoted the girls and they promoted me. I would check to make sure they weren't a scam before re-tooting a profile. Easy to tell. Looks like NSFW Twitter will be my new home base though.
I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say I genuinely enjoyed Switter. But I did occasionally find it useful as a place to find the current ads and new offerings.
The fact that it never had the level of participation which would have made it significantly useful kept me from ever really counting on it though. It just never lived up to its promise.

Switter was interesting when it first started up, but I never really used it that much after the newness wore off and eventually, I was getting more spam that useful intel. A number of providers that I know also had their following on Twitter so they never really got into the new platform either.
I haven't signed into switter in ages so I wouldn't have known that it will be shutting down in March, if I hadn't seen this thread. Needless to say, the assembly four statement is sad and frightening as the OP mentioned.
